Rising Stars: Meet Jeff Woytovich of National

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeff Woytovich.

Hi Jeff, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Here is a bio.

Jeff Woytovich is the Founder, President, and CEO of the Children’s Alopecia Project (CAP), a national and international nonprofit serving children and families affected by alopecia. He founded CAP in 2004 after his daughter was diagnosed, creating a platform that focuses on building confidence, resilience, and community for children living with hair loss. Changing the emphasis from growing hair to growing self-esteem.

A U.S. Marine veteran and experienced healthcare administrator in assisted living and personal care, Jeff brings a unique blend of leadership, organizational management, and people-centered vision to his nonprofit work. He has grown CAP into a nationally recognized organization with programs including over 50 CAP Kid Support Groups, CAP Kid Camps, Alopeciapalooza, CAP Cares About You, CAP5K, CAP2U School Speaking Tours, and the CAP Library Program for schools, while also spearheading grassroots fundraising, volunteer mobilization, and community engagement initiatives.
Jeff is known not only for his advocacy and educational outreach for children with alopecia but also for his strategic leadership, public speaking, and mentorship, which help families navigate complex challenges and inspire other leaders in nonprofit and community initiatives. His work reflects a lifelong commitment to service, empowerment, and making a tangible impact on both local and global communities.

Before starting the Children’s Alopecia Project, Jeff worked as an executive in the senior healthcare field and had previously been on the Board of Directors of the Greater Reading Mental Health Alliance, Circle of Life Coalition, BIG Vision Foundation, and 21st Century Medicine.

Jeff served as media liaison for the TV show Extreme Makeover: Home Edition and co-founded People Chronicles with People Academy founder Toni Reece. In addition to his work with CAP, Jeff is a freelance photographer who volunteers his services to many organizations close to his heart, including the Children’s Alopecia Project.

More than anything, Jeff enjoys spending time with his wife, Betsy; four daughters, Helena, Maddie, Sofie and Mimi; his granddaughter, Luella; and Helena’s husband, Philip, in Wyomissing, Pennsylvania. – https://linktr.ee/childrensalopeciaproject

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
We started as a support group in Southeast PA and grew to a nationwide nonprofit with over 50 CAP Kid Support Groups in the US, Mexico, Africa and Asia. Growing is a good thing, but we grew as we kept thinking small, so we didn’t have time for great planning; we rolled with it, and it got the better of us until we learned to think as big as CAP was becoming.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?

What does success mean to you?
Being happy and knowing that my children, as adults, still enjoy spending time and socializing with my wife and me. It’s the true measure of personal success.
