Today we’d like to introduce you to Zachariah Bigelow.
Hi Zachariah, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started playing music at 15 years old, when I was gifted my first guitar from my mom for Christmas. I got my first guitar lesson on my birthday, which is in March. I became rather hooked, having been a kid who has a hard time sticking with something.
Since then I have been in probably close to 30 different projects, ranging from being the guitarist, drummer, bassist, sax player and vocalist. Now I am fronting my own solo group that goes by my name. Zachariah Bigelow.
It is all music that I wrote on my own time, and I write the music out for my horn section as well as give pretty specific instructions to the other members of the band.
The music for me is about emotional release, tension and explosion. I love writing something beautiful, and I also love writing something in your face with its raw energy. Over the years I have honed my ability as a writer and instrumentalist. Because of playing different instruments in different bands I have learned how they function in a group.
I just released an album over the winter, and I am currently writing and recording a full length album to be released this upcoming spring of 2027.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My biggest difficulty has always been my self esteem and confidence. Believing in myself fully and thoroughly has always felt so far away. I can be so easily swayed by others opinions and stances that sometimes I find myself compromising what I want to do to make others happy. Big people pleaser over here. That is something I am currently working on.
I have had my bouts with depression, anxiety, anger and addiction. So I would say my biggest problems have always been internal, how I view the world and how I operate.
As you know, we’re big fans of Verdant Visions. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I decided a few years ago that I wanted to completely separate music from money. Cause honestly, as an original artist with a very small following, there is no money in it at all really. I can sell my own merch and that is great, but is totally unreliable income. Especially since I always pay my musicians for every show.
That being said I decided the best course of action was to get rich. So I started a landscaping company. It’s been 2 years and I have about 40 some odd clients now, and it’s growing everyday. I mow lawns, weed whack, mulch, create garden beds, weed, and much much more. It’s something that I enjoy because I also love using my body.
My goal is in the next few years to have a full time staff of 4 to 12 people, have a couple trucks and have enough work to send people out to do it while I manage and get more customers. I also want to be an employer who pays way more than the next employer for this type of work. I want to be a great boss.
So if you need any sort of landscaping work done, please reach out to me via Verdant Visions. I always strive to do an excellent job.
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
This too shall pass. The best night of your life. The hardest day you’ve had to experience. The numbess of the morning after a long night of partying. The anxiety that comes from multi tasking.
Every single thing that you have experienced and will continue to experience will pass. It helps me not get so swept up in feelings to know that this too shall pass.
