Today we’d like to introduce you to Skylar Lewis.
Hi Skylar, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My journey began in conventional medicine 15 years ago. I spent nearly a decade working as a Physician Assistant, caring for patients and eventually stepping into leadership, where I helped oversee nearly 200 advanced practice providers. I loved medicine, but over time, I found myself becoming increasingly passionate about what happens beyond the exam room.
I saw so many people struggling with chronic symptoms, fatigue, hormonal imbalances, gut issues, and simply not feeling like themselves. While conventional medicine plays an incredibly important role in our health, I knew there was an opportunity to look deeper and help people understand why they were experiencing these symptoms in the first place.
That curiosity led me to further my education in integrative medicine, holistic health, Ayurvedic nutrition, and mindfulness. What started as a passion for understanding the body as a whole eventually became Skylar Lewis Wellness.
As a wife, mom of two boys, and business owner, I also understand firsthand how easy it is to put your own health on the back burner while taking care of everyone and everything else.
In July 2026, I made the decision to leave my career in conventional medicine to pursue my business full-time. Today, I have the privilege of working with women who are ready to take a deeper look at their health through personalized functional testing, individualized wellness protocols, and ongoing coaching.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Absolutely not! And I think that’s one of the most important parts of my story.
One of my biggest struggles was learning to trust myself enough to step away from a career I had spent nearly a decade building. I had a successful career in conventional medicine, a leadership position, and the stability that comes with a traditional job. Walking away from that to pursue something I was incredibly passionate about was both exciting and terrifying.
Building a business while being a wife, raising two young boys, and continuing to work in medicine came with its own challenges. There were plenty of late nights, moments of self-doubt, and seasons where I felt like I was being pulled in a hundred different directions.
I also had to learn that building a successful business doesn’t have to mean sacrificing the very things I was encouraging my clients to prioritize: their health, relationships, happiness, and quality of life.
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that success isn’t just about how much you accomplish. It’s about creating a life you actually enjoy living.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Skylar Lewis Wellness?
Skylar Lewis Wellness is an integrative medicine practice dedicated to helping women feel their absolute best through personalized, root-cause health and holistic practices.
What makes my approach unique is my background in both conventional and functional medicine. As a Physician Assistant, Integrative and Functional Health Practitioner, I bring together multiple perspectives to help my clients understand their bodies on a deeper level.
I specialize in working with women who are struggling with things like hormonal imbalances, gut health concerns, fatigue, weight management, inflammation, and simply not feeling like themselves anymore. Many of my clients have spent years searching for answers, trying different diets, supplements, and wellness trends without ever feeling like they’ve truly gotten to the root of what’s going on.
Through advanced functional testing, including comprehensive hormone and gut microbiome assessments, I’m able to take a deeper look at what’s happening inside the body. From there, I create individualized wellness protocols that incorporate nutrition, lifestyle modifications, targeted supplementation, and mind-body practices.
But what truly sets Skylar Lewis Wellness apart is that I don’t believe testing and a supplement protocol alone are enough.
I coach every single one of my clients.
We work on the things that don’t always show up on a lab report: confidence, stress, relationships, habits, mindset, and learning how to prioritize yourself in a busy world. My goal isn’t to hand someone a list of things to do. It’s to walk alongside them as they create meaningful, sustainable changes in their health and their lives.
I currently offer several ways to work together, including:
1.) Private 1:1 Coaching: A highly personalized experience for women who want individualized testing, wellness protocols, and ongoing private support.
2.) The Healing Collective: My signature group wellness program that combines functional testing, personalized protocols, group coaching, and a supportive community of women working toward their health goals.
3.) The Wellness Hub: An accessible wellness membership offering education, resources, monthly masterclasses, wellness challenges, and community support for women who want to make wellness part of their everyday lives.
What I’m most proud of, brand-wise, is that I’ve built something that reflects what I genuinely believe health care should feel like: personal, supportive, empowering, and centered around the individual.
I want women to know that they don’t have to settle for simply getting through the day, feeling exhausted, uncomfortable in their bodies, or waiting for life to slow down before they prioritize themselves. You deserve to feel incredible in the life you’ve worked so hard to create.
We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
I have a slightly different perspective on risk than most people. I believe that when you’re truly following your desires and building a life that aligns with what you want, the risk is often much smaller than we make it out to be.
I think so much of what we consider “risky” is based on society’s expectations of what a normal life should look like. Go to school, build a career, find a stable job, and continue climbing the ladder. Anything that deviates from that traditional trajectory can feel risky, even when it’s leading you toward something you genuinely want.
One of the biggest risks I’ve taken was leaving my successful career in conventional medicine to pursue Skylar Lewis Wellness full-time. I had spent nearly a decade building that career, had a stable income, and held a leadership position that I had worked incredibly hard to achieve. Walking away from that wasn’t necessarily the logical next step by traditional standards, especially as a wife and mom of two young boys.
But I knew that the life I wanted looked different. I wanted the freedom to create my own schedule, be more present with my family, pursue work I was deeply passionate about, and build something that could make a meaningful difference in people’s lives.
To me, the bigger risk would have been staying somewhere simply because it felt safe and spending the rest of my life wondering, “What if?”
I think fear has a way of convincing us that staying comfortable is the safest option. But sometimes that comfort comes at the expense of our happiness, growth, and the life we actually want to experience.
That doesn’t mean I believe in making reckless decisions. I believe in being intentional, doing the work, and understanding what you’re stepping into. But I also believe that we can spend so much time analyzing every possible outcome that we talk ourselves out of pursuing the very things we desire most.
I’ve learned that you don’t have to have every single detail figured out before you take the next step. Sometimes you just have to trust yourself enough to begin.
My perspective is that there is risk in everything, including choosing not to take the risk. And I’d much rather look back on my life knowing I had the courage to pursue what I wanted than wonder what could have been if I had allowed fear to make my decisions for me.
