Today we’d like to introduce you to Raymond Keely.
Hi Raymond, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
In 2003 I began working as an independent bookkeeper parttime. My clients were primarily small businesses and other independent contractors. By 2016 my roster of clients grew to be more of a full time undertaking and I was beginning to specialize in an underserved niche of small businesses: Artists and Musicians. For years I had been building a client base by word of mouth and it was finally growing into something sustainable. I still work for a number of traditional small businesses; restaurants, craftsmen and independent contractors but I’ve become known for my expertise in the finances of those converting their art and music into a sustainable business.
During this time of growth I also became proficient in the US Tax Code. In 2022 I received my PTIN and began adding tax preparation services to my repertoire. In 2025 I completed the IRS’s Selected Enrollment Exams and received my Enrolled Agency Credential. Disruptor Professional Services is now a Full Service Bookkeeping and Tax Preparation firm operating as an Electronic Return Originator or Individuals and Businesses around the United States as well as entities abroad required to file US Tax Returns
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I have been fortunate to have earned a devoted client base who does most of my advertising for me and have always exceeded my growth expectations thru simple word of mouth referrals. By the time I made the jump into full time self employment I already had a customer base that could support me. The work I’ve done as a restaurant and small business start up consultant continues to drive new business for me but my largest growth sector in recent years has been independent artists and musicians. I specialize in helping entrepreneurs and creatives separate their personal and business finances and ensure that they are on a path towards success
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am an Artist and Musician myself. My band is signed to a well known label in the Philadelphia area and my art has been exhibited throughout the region. I grew up in a family of musicians and understand the struggles of balancing creative energies with the need for accurate and timely recordkeeping in order to turn those creative energies into a sustainable source of income. Whether an artist is making the jump from hobbyist to professional or .planning a world tour, I’ve been there myself, I’ve helped others through it and I can provide insight into the industries that promote and proliferate the arts.
Maybe you don’t consider yourself an artist, but more of a craftsman or chef. I would tell you that many of the small businesses I work with have some sort of creative personality at the helm and I excel in helping folks see their creative projects come to life and assist in keeping their books and taxes in order so that they can continue to create.
