Hi Mirelis, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I’m originally from Puerto Rico, and when I moved to Pennsylvania, I knew I wanted to build a business like I had envisioned back home. At first, however, it was challenging because I didn’t have the knowledge or experience I needed to navigate the process of starting and growing a business in a new place. That motivated me to go to college, where I studied Business Studies and learned more about what it takes to build and manage a small business.
Through my church and my community, I began helping friends with their businesses, particularly with administrative tasks and translation. Those experiences opened my eyes to how many small business owners need support but may not always know where to find it.
That is what sparked my passion for helping small businesses in my community. Today, I truly enjoy supporting individuals as they work toward their business goals and helping them feel more organized, confident, and prepared for success.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely has not been a smooth road. One of the biggest challenges was moving from Puerto Rico to Pennsylvania and trying to start over in a new place. I had the desire and motivation to build a business, but I quickly realized that I needed more knowledge about business, the local community, and how things worked here.
Going back to college while balancing work and my personal responsibilities was also challenging, but it helped me gain the knowledge and confidence I needed. Another challenge was simply finding opportunities to put what I was learning into practice.
