Today we’d like to introduce you to Keirstin Hair.
Hi Keirstin, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My husband and I bought this property a year ago. On the farm was an orchard and a bakery. The business was previously owned by a family that had it for 30 years. We have decided to continue the bakery which is very well known for their homemade apple dumplings and pies. Although the orchard has aged out of its time we are looking and praying for the next direction for that part of the farm will take us. In our bakery we have add some local vendors, loose tea, whole bean coffee, and sourdough products.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Like all major life changes there has been challenges. When we purchased this farm we moved from an hour away which in itself there was challenges. We have another business as well which was the driving factor for moving to this area. So learning how to run a bakery and market was a process and we did this as a family of six. Some of the challenges was equipment breaking and balancing home life (we are a homeschool family)
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I (Keirstin) was/is a stay at home mom and with purchasing this business/farm has changed that in I am now running the bakery with a huge support of my family and my husband (Ryan). My husband line of work is we own my family business that my dad started 26 years ago. That business spreads wood shaving in poultry houses.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
People may not know that I don’t put milk in my cereal.
