Hi Gerhart, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started Sustainable in 2020 with a goal to share my sustainable practices in the lawn and landscape space, as a service that others could benefit from while also improving the health of our planet. In the beginning, Sustainable focused on garden maintenance, native garden installation, and all battery powered lawn mowing. We’ve planted thousands of native plants and have put thousands of hours on battery powered equipment rather than gas powered equipment. Since 2024, we’ve introduced a lawn care carbon based fertilization program that focuses on soil healing practices in line with regenerative agriculture. Through this program, we’re able to sequester far more carbon emissions from the air and back into the soil than we emit each year work vehicles & gas powered core aerators. Being that our lawn treatment program heals soil and sequesters more carbon than we emit, the program is where I get my personal fulfillment. Since the introduction of this program, we’ve phased out gardening services and will phase out lawn mowing service after 2026 to focus on our treatment program as specialists in the industry. In 2024, we also introduced our second brand to the market, Sustainable Holiday Lighting Services. After lawn care season ends, we pack away the lawn equipment and trade it for lights, ladders, Santa hats, and elf uniforms to help make spirits bright during the holiday season. This service is quickly becoming a hit as we bring smiles and delight to children and families alike. In the now 6 years of being in business, I’ve made connections with some of the most incredible people I’ve ever met. One of the best connections I’ve made is with my mentor, who is also co-owner of the virtual office that we partner with. They’ve guided me through admin management, service offerings, customer care, and many other aspects of business that have been a key component of who Sustainable is today. I’m truly grateful for them and to have connections in previous industry business’s that I left to start this journey. Where we are today is only the beginning of what’s to come for Sustainable as the local lawn health leaders.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, it has not been a smooth road. I’ve studied business for two years on my own before diving in as an entrepreneur. I’ve made many mistakes and learned many lessons, some more expensive than others. I’m happy to learn these lessons early in the life of Sustainable for the long term life of the business.

Sustainable Lawn Care Services is a local organic based lawn fertilization and weed control service that specializes in healing soil through carbon based fertilization and lawn health management practices. Our program provides a better option to improving lawn health by feeding the soil nutrients and carbon that not only product gorgeous lawns, the program also sequesters more carbon emissions back into the soil than we emit each year. Sustainable Holiday Lighting Services is a local holiday lighting company that makes spirits bright with providing the easiest and safest way to light up your home during the holiday season, from your couch! We show up in Santa/elf/holiday light uniforms to bring magic and joy to children and families alike. No more worrying about a family member falling off of a ladder, bulbs going out and staying out before family gathers, or storage!
Through both companies, we’re able to provide service quotes within 24 business hours, lawn care services that start same or next day, and lighting maintenance same or next day as well. Sustainable is built to serve our clients and protect our planet.
