Today we’d like to introduce you to Galyna Kukhniy.
Hi Galyna, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I am originally from Ukraine and came to the United States 20 years ago with my two-year-old daughter to join my husband in Brooklyn, New York. We lived in Brooklyn for about a year, and during that time I gave birth to my son. Later, our family bought a home in Pennsylvania and moved there to start a new chapter of our lives.
I studied at Bucks County Community College, where I focused on learning English and adjusting to life in a new country. Starting over was not always easy, but step by step I built my life here, raised my family, and eventually found my passion for skincare.
My European background has always influenced the way I approach skincare. I believe in looking at the skin as a whole and taking the time to understand each person’s skin. I never wanted to just do a quick facial. I wanted to give my clients personal care and treatments that are right for their skin.
After becoming a licensed esthetician, I continued my education through professional skincare training. I love learning new techniques and bringing advanced treatments to my clients. Over time, I developed my own approach, combining European-inspired skincare, facial massage, hands-on techniques, and modern skincare technology.
My dream was always to have my own skincare studio. My husband has always supported me and believed in me. He helped me open my business and always told me that I could make my dream come true and have my own studio. His support gave me the confidence to take that step and create Lunara Skin Care.
I built Lunara one client at a time. I never rush my treatments. I like to listen to my clients, understand their concerns, and create a personal plan for their skin. For me, skincare is not only about appearance. It is about healthy skin, confidence, and how a person feels when they leave my studio.
Today, I continue to learn, grow, and bring new treatments to Lunara Skin Care. When I look back at my journey from Ukraine to building my own business in the United States, I am proud of how far I have come. I am very grateful for my family, my husband, and every client who has supported and trusted me.
I believe that if you truly dream about something and don’t give up, dreams can come true.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not always been easy. Starting my own business was a big step for me, and I had to learn a lot along the way. I started small and built my business one client at a time.
One of the biggest challenges was doing everything by myself. I am not only an esthetician — I also have to manage my business, marketing, social media, and appointments. Sometimes it can be a lot, but I truly love what I do.
Coming from Ukraine and starting a life in the United States also taught me to work hard and never give up. I am still learning every day, and I believe every challenge has helped me grow and make Lunara Skin Care better.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Lunara Skin Care Studio ?
Lunara Skin Care is my private skincare studio. I specialize in facials and advanced skin treatments. I really love what I do and I always try to give each client a personal experience.
Every person has different skin, so I don’t believe in doing the same facial for everyone. I take my time, look at the skin, listen to my client’s concerns, and choose what I think will work best for them.
I also like to bring my European background into my treatments. I combine facial massage and hands-on techniques with modern skincare technology. My goal is to help my clients have healthy, beautiful skin and also feel relaxed and cared for.
I am very proud of Lunara Skin Care and the relationships I have built with my clients. Seeing them come back and trust me with their skin means a lot to me.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
I think the skincare industry will continue to grow because more people are starting to care about their skin and understand that good skincare is not a quick fix.
I see more people looking for natural-looking results, personalized treatments, and non-invasive options. Clients also want to understand their skin better and know what treatments are right for them.
I believe the future of skincare will be a combination of advanced technology and hands-on facial techniques. For me, the personal connection and taking time with each client will always be very important.
