Meet Felicia Ambrosine-Allen of Pennsylvania

Today we’d like to introduce you to Felicia Ambrosine-Allen.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Wildflower Balloons began long before I knew it would become a business. I started by making decorations by hand for my children’s birthdays. I loved finding little ways to make their celebrations feel magical, and over time, I found myself creating for other people, too. In 2023, Wildflower Balloons grew out of that joy almost by accident. I didn’t know much about balloons yet, but I knew I loved helping people celebrate. The more I created, the more that passion grew.

Some of the work closest to my heart is free. I create community displays outside my home and invite families to come take photos and enjoy them together. There’s often something for children to do, like making a craft or adopting a teddy bear. I love seeing those little moments of joy become memories for families.

That same spirit inspired the Wildflower Balloons Birthday Club. Each month, we help a local family facing health challenges or financial hardship celebrate their child’s birthday. Every child deserves to feel special on their day, and it means so much to be able to bring a little extra magic to families who could use it.

Wildflower Balloons has grown in ways I never expected, but the heart behind it is still the same as when I made decorations for my own children: creating joy, sharing kindness, and hoping it ripples out into the community.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
When I started Wildflower Balloons, I quickly learned that owning a small business can feel a little lonely. I love creating magic for other people, but I wanted to feel that same kindness and connection with the artists around me.

So I started reaching out to local balloon artists whose work I admired. Those conversations grew into a beautiful circle of local moms, each with her own successful business, her own style, and her own special kind of magic. We refer clients to one another, share advice, celebrate each other’s wins, and lend a hand when someone needs one.

We all got here through our own hard work and creativity. And even though we each run our own business, we share something lovely: we get to help people celebrate the moments that matter to them.

There’s room for every one of us to bloom.

Community over competition, always.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
There are many things I’m proud of in life. When I think about Wildflower Balloons, what I’m proudest of is the heart behind it.
I love helping people celebrate life’s big moments. I also know that a custom balloon display isn’t in every family’s budget. That’s why the free displays outside my home mean so much to me. Anyone can stop by, take a photo, and enjoy a little magic on an ordinary day.

Last Halloween, we created a display inspired by witches’ houses, with a pumpkin patch where families could pick out a free pumpkin to take home. It felt like a tiny storybook world had appeared in the neighborhood for a little while. Seeing families explore it together made me so happy.

I admire so many talented artists in this industry. What I’ve learned is that the most meaningful work comes from finding your own style and creating from the heart. For me, that means dreaming up something unexpected, sharing it with my community, and hoping it brings someone joy.

That same heart led me to create the Wildflower Balloons Birthday Club. Each month, we help one local family facing a health challenge or financial hardship celebrate their child’s birthday. Their story stays confidential, while wonderful local businesses and neighbors help us make their celebration special. We’re coming up on two years of the Birthday Club, and it’s one of the things I’m most grateful to be part of.

Wildflower Balloons began with a love of creating. It’s grown into a way to share kindness, celebrate people, and make a little magic together.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
The best advice I could give a new balloon artist is to find a community of artists in your area who are willing to share what they’ve learned. Having people you can ask questions, trade tips, and cheer each other on makes such a difference. I hope you find artists who see you as an ally, because there is room for all of us to create and grow.

And please don’t be afraid to charge what your work is worth. When you’re starting out, it can feel like you need to keep your prices as low as possible. But professional quality balloons, supplies, and the time it takes to create a display all have a real cost. Brands like Sempertex and Tuftex are worth the investment, and your skill and creativity deserve to be reflected in your pricing, too.
