Today we’d like to introduce you to Brooke Brunson.
Hi Brooke, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
After graduating high school in 2009, I felt lost. I knew college wasn’t for me, but I also worried about disappointing my mom. And so, to appease everyone, I enrolled at Community College of Philadelphia. After a year and a half, I decided to leave and work in retail.
During that time, I rediscovered my love for writing and began searching Craigslist for writing gigs. Within a few months, I was writing for magazines and online publications. A few years later, a friend encouraged me to start a blog, and I decided to give it a shot. Fast-forward 10+ years, and it turned out to be one of the best decisions I’ve ever made!
As for becoming a content creator, it all began on YouTube. In my late teens and 20s, I created vlogs and lifestyle content, which I was good at, but when my camera stopped working, I transitioned to podcasting. In 2023, I started creating content on Instagram, sharing everyday life moments and Philly food adventures.
Although I wasn’t always consistent, 2025 felt like a turning point as I began receiving more event invitations. One of my biggest highlights was attending Philadelphia Magazine’s Influencer Awards at the Bellevue Hotel. That experience reminded me that my journey was only beginning.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
To be honest, the road has not always been smooth. I spent years doubting myself because of my family’s doubts, insecurities, and my tendency to compare my success to others. This often left me wondering, ” Am I making a mistake. Until the day came when I finally realized I was on the right path all along.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a Philadelphia-based lifestyle blogger, content creator, podcaster, and entrepreneur behind Philly Blogger. I specialize in curating lifestyle and food content that highlights local restaurants, Philly experiences, everyday moments, and fun things to do around the city.
I’m most proud of how far I’ve come over the past decade, from writing for online publications and magazines to building my own platform and expanding into podcasting and social media. Seeing my hard work lead to event invitations and new networking has been especially rewarding.
What sets me apart is my authentic, relatable approach to storytelling. I enjoy sharing my perspective while helping my audience discover new places, try new things, and find inspiration in everyday life. My goal is to continue growing Philly Blogger into a recognizable city lifestyle brand while creating meaningful connections with my audience and the brands I work with.
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
My biggest advice is to be patient with yourself and stay consistent, even when it feels like your hard work isn’t paying off. Don’t be afraid to start small, try new things, and learn as you go. You don’t need to have everything figured out to get started.
One thing I wish I knew earlier is that you don’t have to wait until everything is perfect to put yourself out there. I also wish I had understood the importance of consistency and networking sooner. Building a brand takes time, and every experience can teach you something valuable. Most importantly, don’t compare your journey to someone else’s. Focus on your own growth, trust your vision, and remember that your beginning doesn’t determine your ending.
