Meet Angelica Daniele of Yoga Recovery Pittsburgh

Today we’d like to introduce you to Angelica Daniele.

Hi Angelica, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Angelica Daniele is a Philadelphia native who earned her M.A. in Arts Administration from Goucher College in 2012. She graduated in 2009 from Goucher with her B.A., summa cum laude, in dance and psychology with concentrations in both arts administration and dance therapy. Angelica danced professionally in Baltimore for 7 seasons with Full Circle Dance Company, and managed its host dance school, Morton Street Dance Center, from 2009-2020. As a choreographer and dancer, she has produced several ensemble works, earned the Mark Ryder Original Choreography Award through the Howard County Arts Council in 2012, served on the board of the Maryland Council for Dance for two terms, and also served as a grant panelist with the Maryland State Arts Council.
On a national level, Angelica was one of the founder’s and Program Coordinator for the Dance/USA Institute for Leadership Training (DILT) for three consecutive years. DILT was modeled off her personally developed mentorship program, begun at Goucher College in 2007, for incoming freshmen dance students. Angelica also served as an adjunct lecturer for Goucher College’s undergraduate business department, teaching a course in Strategic Arts Management and lecture in Grant Funding for graduating seniors in Spring 2014.
Angelica is the proud author of Performance: The Collective and Introspective, originally published by WriteLife, LLC. Performance: The Collective and Introspective is a research-based work that explores the psychology of the dance performer, and the mental, physical, and emotional journey the dancer moves through in preparing for and executing a performance. Angelica received the Emerging Voices in Psychology and the Arts award through True Center Publishing, LLC for this work, following completion of her undergraduate degree. Angelica is also the author of The Diary of a Good Luck Charm, an autobiographical work. Both of these writings are in circulation as self-published books through Amazon and Kindle Publishing. She was named Baltimore’s Best Local Author in 2013 by Baltimore CityPaper. In 2023, she was also published in the collaborative book Within: Powerful Life Changing Essays on Living the Life You Want, a #1 best-seller on Amazon.
Angelica managed Bikram Yoga Baltimore, an original hot yoga school, from 2011-2016. She then completed her 500-hour Original Hot Yoga teaching certification in Summer 2016, 100-hour Intermediate Hatha certification in Fall 2017, 200-hour Vinyasa certification in Fall 2019, and 100-hour Advanced 84 Asana certification in July 2024, respectively, through Yoga Factory Teacher Training. She also completed her 200-Hour Ashtanga Primary Series Certification in 2022 and 100-hour 2nd Series Certification and Power Vinyasa Certification in 2023 and 2026, respectively, with Michael Gannon, as well as a 100-hour Rocket Yoga Certification in both 2025 and in 2027 with David Kyle. Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No life path is linear so this is not a question that makes sense to answer as it is never smooth for anyone, but depending on the lens through which any one person views life, some will perceive “smooth” differently than others. The challlenges, breaks, re-routing, and stillness all create the shape of the journey. I don’t think it’s appropriate to unpack the trauma, heartbreaks, major accomplishments, rewards, or failures. I have nothing to hide, but no, nothing has happened in a perfectly straight line. This interview is a really wonderful encapsulation of my life path and how I got to where I am today: https://youtu.be/UKlktegqY2g?si=A_Vb5jHDDQQmHicp

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Yoga Recovery Pittsburgh?
Our Core Values: Accessibility to a variety of holistic healing modalities, Inclusion in a supportive community with like-minded MINDFUL people, Acceptance of the individual healing journey regardless of what personally challenges you, Mind-FULL living, in body, mind, and spirit.

I believe in a person-centered approach to therapy that is entirely fueled by yogic philosophy and mindfulness skills: you have the power to change, and I will serve as your guide. I will offer concrete skill-building techniques and often assign mini “homework” tasks between appointments so you can put new skills into immediate practice. I am naturally intuitive and will utilize language and methodologies accordingly based on how you propose your current challenges.

Nothing is inherently wrong with you. Forget any diagnosis and completing a bunch of forms. That diagnostic label (if any) only defines a temporary experience. How are you now and what needs to shift? That’s the goal. If your head is clouded; if your career, relationships, or health are stressful; if you can’t navigate options; if you feel stuck, unsure, or overwhelmed; if you can’t find relief… I will empower you. The power is in YOU to change your circumstances (and you will be put to work). I’ll help you become so self-aware that you wholeheartedly trust your intuition enough to find the answers: without doubt, fear, or guilt.

We like to reach for comforts outside of ourselves when in an unbalanced mental, emotional, or physical state. But you have everything you need to feel better NOW. I will show you just that, PLUS build up your confidence, mindfulness, and self-awareness so that you feel secure and satisfied in all areas of your life. This is the yogic path, and it works.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
I had a dream where I saw God. I remember every detail vividly. I was 8 years old. And I now recognize that was the start of my learning to follow a path of self-mastery in this lifetime, and living my dharma, under the direction of a higher power. I have continued to refine my purpose and with that I continue to become a better version of myself. Waking up, drawing out, and processing that dream had been a theme in my life for 30 years now.
