Today we’d like to introduce you to Taylor Rebisa And Tori DiMichele.
Hi Taylor Rebisa and Tori DiMichele, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
When I was 24, I decided to take a leap of faith, leave the salon I was working at, and open Vibe Salon. The first people I went to with the idea were my parents, who have been my biggest support system every step of the way. I can’t even count the number of times I called them in tears during the process of opening my first location, overwhelmed and ready to back out. But they never let me give up on myself. They continued to encourage me, push me forward, and remind me why I wanted to do this in the first place. Looking back, I truly could not have done any of it without them.
What started in 2018 with just four girls and three chairs has grown into something bigger than I ever imagined. Eight years later, we now have a team of 11 incredible women, and I couldn’t be prouder of what we’ve built together.
Our first salon was a small space just down the street from where we are today. As our team and clientele continued to grow, we quickly outgrew that location and knew it was time for something bigger. That’s when we found what would eventually become our current home: an old, run-down gas station.
My dad took on the incredible task of completely transforming the building, renovating it from top to bottom. Today, Vibe occupies the upper level, while the lower level is home to my sister Tori’s med spa, Tove Skin.
Tori is a nurse injector and has owned her spa for four years. She recently rebranded to Tove Skin, creating a beautiful, intimate space where clients can relax, feel cared for, and leave feeling like a more radiant version of themselves.
Although we each own and operate our businesses independently, Vibe and Tove have naturally grown into something that feels like one big family. It makes it even more special that my salon manager, Emily, who is most likely the first face you’ll see when you walk into Vibe or the voice you’ll hear when you call, also happens to be Tori’s best friend.
One of the things Tori, Emily, and I are most proud of is the culture we’ve created between our two teams. From the beginning, our vision has always been about so much more than hair, skin, or beauty treatments. We wanted to create spaces where people genuinely enjoy coming to work, where our clients feel welcomed the moment they walk through the door, and where everyone feels like they’re part of something special.
While Vibe and Tove each have their own identity, we share the same values and passion for making people feel their absolute best. Being able to grow our businesses alongside one another, in a building our dad brought to life, makes the entire journey that much more meaningful.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I’ll be honest, I wouldn’t say it’s been an easy road, but I’m genuinely grateful for every step along the way. I feel like I’ve grown so much, both personally and professionally, through every challenge we’ve faced.
We’ve definitely had our fair share of obstacles. Just two months after opening our first salon, we experienced a flood, and two years later, we were forced to close for 10 weeks during the pandemic. But I would say one of our biggest challenges was relocating and renovating our current building.
What we thought would be an exciting new chapter quickly became one of the most stressful experiences. The renovation ended up costing significantly more than we ever anticipated, and permitting delays brought everything to a complete halt. From February to September, our building sat untouched because we weren’t allowed to move forward with construction. By the time we were finally able to relocate, it honestly felt like we were starting all over again.
My sister has faced her own challenges as well. Her recent rebrand to Tove came after she and her former business partner parted ways. It wasn’t an easy transition, and she essentially had to build a new business on her own, all while juggling life at home with three little ones.
I think one of the biggest lessons we’ve both learned is that owning a business requires a lot of resilience. There are so many things that happen behind the scenes that people don’t see, and sometimes you just have to figure things out as you go. But having each other and our family to lean on through it all has made such a difference.
Looking back, I wouldn’t change the journey. Every setback has taught us something, and I think we both have a much greater appreciation for what we’ve built because of everything it took to get here
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I think what my sister and I love most about what we do is having the opportunity to make people feel their absolute best. Although we specialize in different areas of the beauty industry, we share the same passion for helping people feel confident, beautiful, and comfortable in their own skin.
At Vibe, we specialize in hair color, extensions, and creating beautiful, customized looks for our clients. At Tove, my sister focuses on aesthetics and helping her clients feel like the most refreshed versions of themselves. While our services may be different, our overall mission is the same.
What we’re most proud of, and what I think truly sets us apart, is the environment we’ve created. We both feel so strongly that the experience should be just as amazing as the results. We want everyone who walks through our doors to feel genuinely welcomed, comfortable, and excited to be there. Whether it’s a client coming in for an appointment or one of our girls showing up to work, creating a positive and uplifting atmosphere has always been our biggest priority.
We’re also incredibly proud of the teams we’ve built and the relationships we’ve formed along the way. There’s something really special about having two separate businesses that feel like one big family. We love seeing our teams support one another, our clients become friends, and the overall culture we’ve worked so hard to create continue to grow.
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
I think the beauty industry is moving toward a more personalized, natural approach. People still want to look and feel their best, but I think we’re seeing a shift toward enhancing what makes each person beautiful rather than completely changing their appearance.
In both the hair and aesthetics industries, I see a growing emphasis on healthy natural hair, skin health, preventative treatments, and results that are beautiful but still feel effortless. I think clients are becoming more educated about the services they receive and are looking for professionals they can trust to guide them toward what’s best for them.
I also think the experience itself will become even more important. With so many options available, I believe people will continue to gravitate toward businesses where they feel comfortable, valued, and genuinely cared for. This growing connection between beauty, wellness, and personalized care is something we’re already seeing across the industry.
That’s something Tori and I both want to continue building on. As the industry evolves, we’re excited to grow alongside it, introduce new services, and continue educating ourselves and our teams.
