Today we’d like to introduce you to Tanira Smalls.
Hi Tanira , we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started Tagére Cosmetics in 2019. I originally started out curating skin care to help with the changes my skin went through after I had my son. After creating my own body butter and body scrub for personal use, I found myself invested in the concept of organic cosmetic. Shortly after, I began creating lipglosses of different colors flavors and variety and slowly expanded over the course of the years.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road has not always been easy especially because I can be my own worse critic at times. When I have a vision of a product it’s deeper than just being something that looks aesthetically appealing. I want my products to be efficient. I am very intentional and detailed oriented with my ingredients, how they blend together to meet the goal of the product and I also design my own packaging and labels. It can be challenging at times but I always remind myself that I am contributing my creativity to the world!

Tagére Cosmetics is a small cosmetics line I created to bridge the gap between luxury and affordability. In an industry full of talented people from MUA’s, make up brands and artists alike it’s important to have your individuality. I think what sets my brand apart from others is that Tagère Cosmetics is not just lipgloss and skin care , it is an experience. I aim to create a sisterhood/safe space for women to come together and have those uncomfortable conversations about changes in our body and skin and what is needed to help with it.
Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
Advice for anyone starting out? As long as your vision and mission makes sense to you and is strong in your heart, go for it. Chase it and do it with passion, there will be people that side eye you., people that judge, people that even overlook you but the key is to keep going
