Hi Shamaar , so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I always loved to draw. Drawing picture was my get away and it always made me feel so comfortable. Since I could remember I always had a pencil a pen a couple pencil or even a paint brush in my had…The freedom I have to create whatever I wanted
Since I enjoyed art so much why not do it for a living. Even though it’s my job I don’t look at it that way. I can literally tattoo all day long and not get bored of it. The excitement it brings me when I see someone’s ideas come to life through my creativity is priceless. So for the last past 3 years that’s what I been doing and.created my brand Coated Ink tattooing…I came up with it my last name is Coates so I just took the S off and made it a D and that’s how Coated ink was born
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not been smooth…I run things my own way and other tattoo shops didn’t like what I was doing by pricing my work so low…Again I’m still new in the tattoo industry and it’s not always about the money for me. I understand that not everyone has hundreds of Hundreds of dollars to spend on tattoos so my not give everyone a change to get a really really nice tattoo so a low budget
I have bad bad rumars spread about my shop that wasn’t true that I had to defend because they didn’t like me “taken their business” I learned that you can please everyone so continue to do what make you and yourself happy
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
My tattoo I feel like are really good for the amount of time I been tattooing which has been almost 3 years..and I specialize in black and gray mostly and love to do floral tattoos…..Everyone enjoys my flowers the most..
I’m most proud of how I been handling myself in this industry it’s very hard to make a name for yourself
I have done this all on my own no apprenticeship no help..just self determination and hard work that what sets me apart from other..my work ethic is unmatched
What’s next?
I’m looking to takeover the tattoo industry and become the best artist as shop in the world COATED INK TATTOOING to the top..
