Life & Work with Katririssa Rose of Pennsylvania

Today we’d like to introduce you to Katririssa Rose.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My modeling journey started about seven years ago at Scott Church Studios, which is now known as Iron Ore Studio. I started by attending the free events, and I kept showing up, meeting different photographers, and building connections within the modeling community.

At the beginning, I was very shy and honestly never imagined how far I would come. I dreamed about doing runway shows and photoshoots, but I had to push myself outside of my comfort zone. As I became more confident, I started traveling outside of Pennsylvania for opportunities, including working in New Jersey, Philadelphia, and other areas.

Seven years later, I can truly say that I love the experiences modeling has brought into my life. I’ve had the opportunity to work with so many talented photographers, creatives, and other models, while continuing to grow and discover more of myself.

One of the things I love most about modeling is being able to encourage other women, no matter their shape, size, or background, to feel confident enough to try modeling too. I want women to know that you don’t have to look a certain way to belong in this industry. You can learn how to pose, express yourself, build confidence, and own your individuality.

What started as a shy woman with a dream has grown into a journey that I’m incredibly proud of, and I’m excited to see where the next chapter takes me.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
One of the biggest obstacles I faced when I first started modeling was my confidence. I was a very shy person, and stepping in front of a camera or walking in front of a crowd was completely outside of my comfort zone. I had the dream, but I had to learn how to believe in myself enough to pursue it.

Another challenge has been navigating an industry where you can sometimes feel like you have to fit a certain look, body type, or standard to be successful. As a woman with curves, I’ve had to learn not to let those expectations define what I believe I’m capable of. Instead, I’ve embraced who I am and realized that my uniqueness is part of what makes me stand out.

I’ve also had to push myself to go after opportunities outside of my comfort zone and outside of Pennsylvania. Traveling to places like New Jersey and Philadelphia, meeting new photographers and creatives, and putting myself in unfamiliar environments helped me grow tremendously.

There have definitely been moments of rejection, disappointment, and times when opportunities didn’t work out the way I hoped. But I’ve learned that every “no” doesn’t mean I’m not good enough. Sometimes it simply means that opportunity wasn’t meant for me, and there’s another door waiting to open.

Looking back, I realize that many of the obstacles I faced actually helped build the confidence I have today. I’m still growing, but now I want to use my experiences to encourage other women of every shape and size to step outside their comfort zone, learn how to pose, express themselves, and realize that they belong in front of the camera too.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
My work as a model is centered around self-expression, confidence, and showing that beauty comes in every shape and size. I specialize in photoshoots, fashion, runway, beauty, and creating different looks and moods in front of the camera. I enjoy being versatile and bringing my own personality and creativity into every project.

One thing that sets me apart is that I also do my own makeup. I enjoy creating my own looks and making sure my makeup complements the vision, outfit, and overall concept of a shoot. Being able to handle my own makeup allows me to be more creative and gives me another way to express myself.

I’m most proud of how much I’ve grown throughout my seven-year modeling journey. I started out very shy, and now I’m comfortable stepping in front of the camera, walking runway, traveling for opportunities, collaborating with different creatives, and continuing to challenge myself.

I’m also proud of the example I can set for other women. I want women of all shapes and sizes to know that they can model, learn how to pose, feel beautiful, and be confident in their own skin. I believe what sets me apart is my personality, my willingness to learn, my versatility, and the confidence I’ve built through experience. I don’t want to simply take a good photo—I want to bring energy, emotion, and authenticity to every project I’m part of.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
My biggest advice to other models is to believe in yourself and don’t be afraid to start before you feel completely ready. I was very shy when I first started, and I had to push myself out of my comfort zone. Confidence doesn’t happen overnight—you build it through experience.

Don’t compare your journey to anyone else’s. Every model has a different look, body type, style, and path. Learn what makes you unique and use that as your strength. Don’t feel like you have to change who you are to fit someone else’s idea of beauty.

I also encourage models to learn as much as they can. Learn how to pose, practice your facial expressions, understand your angles, take care of your appearance, and learn how to present yourself professionally. I even do my own makeup, which has helped me become more independent and creative with my looks.

Most importantly, show up, make connections, stay professional, and don’t let rejection stop you. Some opportunities won’t work out, and that’s okay. I always say if one door closes another one opens Keep going, keep learning, and keep putting yourself out there.

And remember—you don’t have to be a certain size or look a certain way to be a model. If you have the passion and you’re willing to learn, you deserve to take up space. Be yourself, be confident, and let your personality shine through.
