Life & Work with Alayne of New Jersey

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alayne.

Hi Alayne, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Alayne Morena, NBC-HWC
With over 37 years of experience as a Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) and a Bachelor of Science in Health and Wellness, I have dedicated my career to the science of care. A deeply personal journey led me to transition into health coaching five years ago. After navigating several medical misdiagnoses, I felt a calling to bridge the gap in traditional healthcare and advocate for a more holistic, bio-individual approach to well-being.

As a graduate of the Institute of Integrative Nutrition, I empower women to navigate autoimmune challenges and the peri- to post-menopause journey. My personalized mind-body approach dismantles “one-size-fits-all” wellness to foster hormonal harmony, immune resilience, and lasting vitality. I view my role as a supportive guide and mentor. I believe that sustainable health isn’t about following a rigid set of rules, but about tuning into your own body to discover what truly energizes you.

My Coaching Philosophy
I focus on the eight pillars of health, recognizing that wellness is influenced by much more than just what is on your plate. We will explore how factors such as job satisfaction, relationship quality, and your home environment affect your physical and hormonal health.

How I Support My Clients:
• Accountability: Acting as a consistent partner to help you stay on track with your goals.
• Education: Providing the resources and knowledge needed to foster lasting behavioral changes.
• Empowerment: Helping you become the expert on your own body and energy levels.
• Safe Space: Creating a non-judgmental environment to explore and enact positive lifestyle shifts.

My mission is to help you navigate the complexities of wellness by focusing on the dietary and lifestyle choices that are most effective for you as a unique individual. Together, we will build a foundation for health that is both sustainable and inspiring.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Life rarely moves in a straight line, and my own journey has certainly been shaped by its share of steep hills and unexpected detours. My path forward was first tested by a frustrating medical misdiagnosis, leaving me searching for real answers while trying to navigate my health and physical well-being. Not long after, the challenge deepened into profound grief four years ago when I lost my boyfriend. Facing that sudden, heavy void while already feeling vulnerable felt like the ground had shifted completely beneath me, and a subsequent broken wrist only added physical limitation to an already overwhelming season.

There were moments when the weight of it all—the health confusion, the emotional heartbreak, and the physical pain—felt almost insurmountable. It would have been easy to surrender to bitterness or let the setbacks define my story. Instead, I chose to focus on what I could control: my perspective, my inner strength, and my commitment to healing. I leaned into a mindset of hope, trusting that even the hardest seasons hold purpose and that light can still be found in the darkest moments.

Persevering through those trials didn’t mean ignoring the pain; it meant actively choosing a positive attitude in spite of it. Each obstacle, from searching for clarity and healing a broken wrist to the quiet rebuilding of a heart, revealed a deep reservoir of resilience I didn’t know I possessed. Looking back, that rocky stretch of road didn’t break me—it proved that no matter how difficult the journey becomes, grace, optimism, and determination will always carry me through to the other side.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
What I Do & What I Specialize In

As a National Board Certified Health & Wellness Coach (NBC-HWC) and founder of Happy Healthy Balanced You, I help women navigate dietary and lifestyle shifts so they can reclaim their vitality, balance their health, and feel truly comfortable and confident in their own skin.

Drawing from a 37-year clinical foundation as a Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) alongside advanced degrees in Health Science and Integrative Health, my work bridges the gap between clinical health awareness and lasting, everyday habit transformation.

Areas of Specialization

Hormonal Harmony & Gut Health: Helping women navigate the shifts of peri/menopause, systemic inflammation, and gut-related challenges with evidence-based nutrition strategies.
Bio-Individual Lifestyle Design: Tailoring sustainable, realistic eating and lifestyle habits that fit individual biology and daily schedules—moving away from restrictive, one-size-fits-all diets.
Habit Change Science: Applying habit stacking and client-centered behavioral science to turn overwhelming health goals into manageable micro-changes.

What I Am Known For

I am known for an empathetic, evidence-based, and non-judgmental coaching style. Rather than handing down rigid rules, I serve as a grounded, knowledgeable partner who guides women back to listening to their own bodies. Clients rely on my practice for a non-diet approach that focuses on adding nourishing practices—both on and off the plate—rather than taking things away.

What Sets Me Apart

Clinical Depth Meets Behavioral Science: With over three decades in clinical healthcare paired with board-level health coaching certifications (including specialized credentials in Gut Health and Gluten-Free practices), I bring a deeply informed, holistic understanding of how systemic body systems interact.
Whole-Person (8-Pillar) Focus: I recognize that lasting wellness isn’t just about what you eat. I look at the entire picture—including stress, sleep, environment, and relationships—to address the root causes of burnout and low energy.
Empowerment Over Control: I believe every woman is the ultimate expert on her own body. My goal isn’t to prescribe a fixed regimen, but to help clients cultivate self-efficacy, self-trust, and long-term autonomy over their health.

What I Am Most Proud Of

I am most proud of transitioning my decades of healthcare experience into a dedicated coaching practice that gives women their energy and agency back. Watching clients move away from years of chronic fatigue, confusion, and restrictive dieting to a state of ease, hormonal balance, and genuine confidence is the most rewarding part of my work.

I am also proud to continually push the boundaries of my own learning as a scholar-practitioner, grounding every tool, workshop, and client plan in compassionate, evidence-informed care.

Any big plans?
What Are Your Plans for the Future?

Looking ahead, my vision for Happy Healthy Balanced You is centered on expanding how I serve my community—growing from one-on-one coaching into broader collaborative initiatives, community education, and evidence-informed practice.

1. Growing the Lehigh Valley Health & Wellness Network Group

One of the most exciting initiatives on my immediate horizon is building and expanding the Lehigh Valley Health & Wellness Network Group. Having recently co-founded this professional network, my goal is to bridge gaps across local healthcare and holistic disciplines. By breaking down professional silos and bringing practitioners together, we are building a strong referral and resource network that supports whole-person wellness across the region.

2. Expanding Community Outreach & Workshops

I am looking forward to hosting more interactive community workshops and pop-up education sessions. These events allow me to reach women where they are, bringing practical tools around gut health, hormonal harmony, and sustainable habit-building into local fitness spaces, wellness centers, and community gatherings.

3. Deepening Scholar-Practitioner Research

As part of my commitment to evidence-based practice, I am continually advancing my academic research in integrative health sciences. Focusing on emerging topics such as fasting protocols, inflammatory markers, and metabolic health allows me to bring the latest science-backed insights directly into my client programs and community talks.

4. Broadening Impact Through Holistic Group Programs

While personalized, bio-individual coaching remains the heart of my practice, I am planning to scale my touchpoints by launching small-group cohorts. These programs will combine behavioral science, habit stacking, and peer support—giving women a community-driven space to navigate lifestyle and dietary shifts together.
