Inspiring Conversations with Roza Goltser of Roza Goltser Photography

Today we’d like to introduce you to Roza Goltser.

Roza, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My first real experience with photography started when my grandmother gave me my late grandfather’s film camera. From there, I began photographing friends and family, and over time, weddings became a natural next step.

Portrait work has always stayed important to me. I find people fascinating, and telling their story through a creative lens feels deeply fulfilling.

A background in fashion design from Parsons shaped the way I see light, texture, and detail. It gives me a different perspective that I bring into every session.

I built my photography business focusing on weddings and intimate portrait work, creating images that feel personal and lasting.

At the same time, I co-founded Embroydica with my mother to create a space dedicated to embroidery education and community.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It hasn’t been a completely smooth road. The wedding industry, especially now, is very competitive, and it takes consistency and resilience to keep going. There are always challenges, whether it’s standing out, or balancing the business side with the creative side.

Over the recent years, I also chose to step back at times as I went through two pregnancies. That season shifted my focus more toward family while my kids are still young, which felt important to me.

Now, I’m slowly stepping back into photographing more weddings and portraits, with a clear sense of balance and direction. I think it is important to take time for yourself and that can be challenging in today’s world, especially when you are self-employed.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Roza Goltser Photography?
My work is centered around photographing people in a way that feels honest, refined, and personal. I specialize in weddings and intimate portrait sessions, including maternity and couples. The focus is always on creating images that feel true to the person, not overly staged or forced.

I believe my attention to detail and the way I guide my clients, sets me apart from other photographers. With a background in fashion design, I naturally pay close attention to fabric, movement, light, and composition. At the same time, I create a space where people feel comfortable, which allows for more natural and meaningful images.

I am proud of building a photography business that feels intentional and consistent. Every part of the experience is thoughtful, from how I work with clients to how the final images are presented.

Beyond photography, I also co-founded Embroydica with my mother. It is a platform dedicated to embroidery education and community, which reflects another side of my connection to craftsmanship and storytelling.

What I want people to know is that this is not just about taking photos. It is about creating something lasting that people can come back to over time and still feel connected to.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
Consistency has been the most important factor in my growth. Showing up, continuing to improve, and staying committed even when things feel slow or uncertain has made the biggest difference.

In a competitive industry, talent alone is not enough. Being consistent in the quality of work, the client experience, and the way I run my business is what builds trust over time.

It is not about doing everything perfectly, but about continuing to move forward and staying dedicated to the work.
