Hi Melanie, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Jamison Lawn Care started when I was just 19 years old with a lawn mower, a strong work ethic, and a desire to build something of my own. What began as a small lawn care operation has grown over the past 10 years into a full-service lawn and landscaping company serving Bucks and Montgomery counties.
My husband, Tom, and I now run the company together alongside an incredible team. Like any small business, the journey has included plenty of long days, growing pains, lessons, and adjustments—but we’ve continued to build around quality work, honest communication, and genuinely caring for our clients, employees, and community.
We’re incredibly proud of how far Jamison Lawn Care has come, while still feeling like we’re only getting started.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, but I think that’s true for most meaningful things. Starting a business at 19 meant learning almost everything through experience—often by making mistakes first.
Some of our biggest challenges have been managing the seasonal nature of landscaping, building the right team, navigating cash flow, and learning how to grow without losing the quality and personal care that built our reputation. Running a business with your spouse while raising a family also comes with its own learning curve!
There have been stressful seasons and plenty of moments when we’ve questioned ourselves, but each challenge has forced us to become better leaders and more intentional business owners. We’re still learning and evolving, and I think we always will be.
We’ve been impressed with Jamison Lawn Care LLC, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Jamison Lawn Care is a full-service lawn and landscaping company serving homeowners throughout Bucks and Montgomery counties. We specialize in recurring lawn and garden bed maintenance, seasonal cleanups, pruning, mulching, plantings, lawn improvements, and customized landscape projects.
We’re known for being dependable, detail-oriented, and easy to communicate with. Landscaping can sometimes feel overwhelming for homeowners, so we focus on providing clear recommendations, realistic expectations, and thoughtfully written proposals. Our goal isn’t simply to complete a job—it’s to understand what matters most to each client and help them care for their property in a manageable, long-term way.
What sets us apart is the level of personal care behind the company. Even as we’ve grown, we’ve worked hard to maintain the trust and attention that helped us build our reputation. We’re also proud of our recognizable purple brand, our incredible team, and the fact that Jamison Lawn Care was built from the ground up.
More than anything, we want readers to know that we genuinely care—about our clients, our employees, the quality of our work, and the communities we serve.
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
I define success as building something sustainable that supports more than just ourselves. Of course, financial stability and growth matter, but success also means creating dependable jobs, taking good care of our clients, supporting our family, and building a business that doesn’t require us to sacrifice every part of our lives to keep it running.
To me, real success is being proud of what we’ve built, continuing to grow as leaders, and knowing our work has made a positive difference for the people around us.
