Today we’d like to introduce you to Jacklyn Diedel.
Hi Jacklyn, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
It all started when I was gifted a camera for my birthday in 2016. I knew once I snapped the first photo, this was what I was destined to do. I dove in headfirst learning the ins and outs of Photography. After about 2 years, I was able to leave my full-time job in the medical field and start taking photos full-time.
I love all kinds of photography, but portraits are what I specialize in, specifically babies.
Although I’ve never taken any classes or courses for photography, it was something I always loved, and I never thought it would take me to where I am today. I am grateful every day to wake up to a career that hardly feels like work.
I pride myself on the experience my clients have during their time spent with me, I want them to have fun, be relaxed and feel comfortable. I send every gallery off and say to myself “good luck finding a favorite”, and that is my goal.
I have met hundreds of amazing people along this journey, and I look forward to meeting hundreds more.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I wouldn’t say the road has always been completely smooth. Like any small business owner, I’ve faced challenges with changes in the economy, growing competition, moving studio spaces, and finding the right balance between work and home life. One of my biggest challenges has always been making sure I’m not only giving my business my best, but also being a present mom and taking care of everything in my personal life while running a busy company.
Through every challenge, I’ve continued to adapt, push forward, and grow. I’ve also been incredibly fortunate to have the most amazing, loyal clients who continue to come back year after year. Their support and trust have played such a huge part in the success and growth of my business.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Dream Captures Photography is a portrait photography business specializing in babies, newborns, and children. I’m probably best known for my milestone and cake smash sessions, where I love bringing creative ideas to life through custom, artistically designed sets, as well as my newborn photography. I believe what sets me apart is my attention to detail and the personal experience I give each client—I want families to enjoy the entire process, not just walk away with beautiful photographs.
I’m incredibly proud of how far I’ve come, especially knowing I started with very little and built this business on my own. Having clients who have trusted me year after year, watching their families and children grow in front of my camera, is one of my greatest accomplishments. I’m also proud to have had my work published in several magazines and to have built a successful business while also being a mom and balancing family life.
Most importantly, Dream Captures Photography isn’t going anywhere. I want to continue growing, creating fun and unique sessions, pushing myself creatively, and making Dream Captures a name that families recognize throughout my community and surrounding areas. I’ve worked hard to build what I have, and I’m excited to see just how far I can take it.
What matters most to you?
What matters to me most is continuing to move forward, grow, and never lose sight of why I started. I take a lot of pride in maintaining a five-star reputation and knowing that my clients have such positive things to say about their experiences with me. My clients always come first, and it means so much to be trusted to capture every stage of their journey—from engagements and maternity to newborns, first birthdays, and beyond.
I also want to be known in my community for more than just my photography. Giving back has always been important to me, whether that’s offering my services to local schools, supporting charities, or helping within my community whenever I can. At the end of the day, success to me isn’t just about making money or running a successful business—it’s about building relationships, being part of people’s lives, and using what I’ve built to make a difference.
