Inspiring Conversations with Calen Wolfskill of Ironbuilt Content Co.

Today we’d like to introduce you to Calen Wolfskill.

Hi Calen, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
If you really look back, I started filming content and creating content when I was about 10 years old. I was filming skateboard and snowboard videos of myself and my friends for fun. Then that turned into school projects when I got older and finally evolved into a communications degree and a business now today.

I got started with Ironbuilt Content Co. with a friend back in March of 2020. The two of us have since parted ways and I decided it was time to rebrand the business at the end of last year. Making it feel more my own and fit more of the customers that I’m looking to work with long term.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It’s been far from a smooth road. Between the dissolving of a business partnership and the STEEP learning curve of how to sell and grow the business, it’s been a huge effort. I can’t even count the number of late nights, frustrating conversations, bad sales calls, or attempts that failed in one way or another.

But I can say, the one thing that it’s all taught me is how to be resilient and to strategically rethink and realign my thoughts to find success. In this life you’re not often gifted success. You have to earn it. Which often means you have to fail, learn, and evolve to find that success. That’s the process that’s gotten me to this point and the one that will continue to carry me forward.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
My business is Ironbuilt Content co. We are a video marketing agency that helps specifically industrial and manufacturing businesses in Lancaster County PA and surrounding areas solve problems in their business with video content. We help them with everything from training content, to social media ads to get more projects and leads.

What makes us different from other video companies is that we are highly involved in our client’s businesses. We want to know the ins the outs the good and the bad. That’s what allows us to be able to make strategic decisions on content needs and where to find areas to grow. We aren’t just creating a piece of content and then never talking to a client again. We are talking with them weekly, daily, monthly, and adjusting out plans to match growing needs or changes with our campaigns. If something didn’t work, we get to the source of why that happened.

What I’m most proud of right now is the large scale project we did for Peachtree Builders. They are a General Contracting company in Vermont that hired us to fulfill a project that involved several different videos. 4 testimonials, one brand video, and a case study video on a house build they are wrapping up this year. That was some of our best long form work that we were able to convert into short form pieces of content for them as well. A perfect use case of what we do for our customers and also a showcase of the level of quality that we do it with.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
My favorite childhood memory isn’t really just one moment. It’s several that I had with my grandfather, playing basketball and having him teach me how to play the game, pretty much since I was old enough to walk.
