Today we’d like to introduce you to Victoria Lugoro.

Hi Victoria, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started Victoria Braiding Salon & Beauty Supply with a passion for beauty and a vision to create a space where clients feel confident, valued, and taken care of. What began as a skill I developed over time turned into a business where I provide professional braiding services while also offering quality hair products to meet my clients’ needs in one place.

Through building my salon, I’ve gained hands-on experience in customer service, time management, and business operations. I’ve worked on growing my brand by promoting services, creating specials, and building relationships with clients who continue to trust my work.

My goal is to continue expanding my business, not only by increasing my client base but also by growing my beauty supply side and eventually developing my own line of products. I’m passionate about helping people look and feel their best, and I’m committed to delivering quality service and a positive experience every time.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has definitely not been a smooth road, but every challenge has helped shape me into who I am today. One of the biggest struggles I faced was balancing multiple responsibilities—building my braiding salon and beauty supply business while also managing personal commitments and financial responsibilities. There were times when resources were limited, and I had to be creative with marketing, budgeting, and growing my client base.

Another challenge was building trust and visibility in a competitive industry. Starting out, not everyone knows your work, so I had to consistently show up, deliver quality service, and use social media and word-of-mouth to grow my brand.

I also faced moments of self-doubt, especially when things didn’t move as fast as I expected. But instead of giving up, I used those moments to learn, improve, and stay focused on my long-term vision.

Overall, the journey has had its ups and downs, but each obstacle taught me resilience, discipline, and the importance of believing in myself.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
Finding a mentor and building a strong network has been one of the most important parts of my growth. What has worked well for me is being intentional about building genuine relationships rather than just asking for help upfront. I focus on connecting with people who are already doing what I aspire to do, learning from how they move, and showing consistency in my work.

I’ve found that mentorship often develops naturally when you bring value, stay engaged, and follow through. For example, in my real estate and business journey, I’ve learned a lot by staying close to experienced professionals, asking thoughtful questions, and applying what I learn. That builds trust and opens the door for deeper guidance.

Networking for me is also about being visible and authentic—whether through events, social media, or everyday conversations. I don’t just focus on what I can gain, but also how I can support others, share opportunities, or collaborate.

Overall, what has worked best is consistency, humility, and taking action on advice given. That’s what turns a simple connection into a meaningful mentorship.
