Hidden Gems: Meet Sara Faust-Strang of Faust Funeral Home, Inc.

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sara Faust-Strang.

Hi Sara, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
At six years old I knew I desired to be a Funeral Director when I grew up. I began my professional career in the Funeral Industry at the age of 14 as an assistant in the Funeral Home. I knew that I wanted to spend the rest of my professional career assisting people through their hardest moments. I graduated from Mortuary School in 2016, after completing my apprenticeship and passing the State and National Boards became a licensed Funeral Director in April 2018. In July of 2018 I purchased and became the Supervisor of the Faust Funeral Home, Inc. at the age of 27.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No, it has not. The previous owner of the business confiscated preneed funds, leaving families with nothing from a preneed contract restricted for funeral services. My main reason for purchasing this business was to be certain all contracts were honored. I am proud to announce I have kept my promise. I have served all of the families, of those affected, who have chosen to still use the Funeral Home for their services, with no additional expenses to them. I have made every attempt to be very transparent with my community to earn the trust and loyalty lost by the actions of the precious owner and will continue to do so.

We’ve been impressed with Faust Funeral Home, Inc. , but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
On March 6, 1946, our founder, G. Kimbel Faust welcomed the community for the first time to Faust Funeral Home, Inc., and this year I am very proud to be celebrating 80 years of dedicated service to our community. I made a personal decision in 2020 that our Funeral Service charges will remain without an increase. For the 6th year I will not be increasing our service charges to help alleviate the financial burden that comes when a loved one passes. We do not charge weekend overtime fees or extra for services outside of our facility, we believe in keeping our pricing consistent seven days a week to allow families to schedule services based upon their own schedule and convenience. As well as creating memorial videos at no charge to the family. Our staff pride themselves on the ability to serve any family and to create a memorable service that is completely personal to each individual. We provide 24/7 availability in any capacity for the families we serve. Since we are family owned and operated, we have more flexibility to work one on one with clients and families to ensure their wishes and those of their loved ones are honored every step of the way. We try to create an environment of comfort and support for those we serve. Our goal is to never add undue burden to the families we serve and to allow their requests to be carried out exactly as they wished them to be. We treat each family we serve with respect and dignity as if they were members of our own families. Our merchandise comes from other small family run businesses instead of larger corporations as we feel it is important to support other local businesses. Our staff all live in the community we serve, many of whom have lived in Bucks County their entire lives. Our staff truly cares about those we serve and take the time to truly get to know the families so that they know they are fully supported in every decision they make.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
I have lived here my whole life. It is a wonderful small town with a tight knit community. There is always a community event going on. It feels like everyone knows each other. The community truly lifts each other up and comes together with a helping hand to whomever needs it. It has been a wonderful place to raise a family and have a business. We hope to serve this community for many more years to come.
