Hidden Gems: Meet Nahomis Rojas of Dulce Luna Bakery

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nahomis Rojas.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My name is Nahomis Rojas, and I am the founder of Dulce Luna Bakery. Surprisingly, baking was never something I planned to turn into a business. In fact, I never imagined that one dessert would completely change the direction of my life.

The idea for Dulce Luna Bakery began when I decided to make a dessert as a gift for my manager at the job I had at the time. I brought it to work, and everyone loved it. Soon, my coworkers started asking if I could make desserts for them as well. What started as a simple act of appreciation quickly turned into requests, orders, and eventually a business.

I am originally from the Dominican Republic and have been living in the United States for many years. Throughout my journey, I have always looked for ways to grow, create opportunities, and build something meaningful of my own. Starting a business was never part of my original plan, but sometimes life leads you down unexpected paths.

The name Dulce Luna was inspired by my dog, Luna. She holds a special place in my heart, and I wanted the name of my business to reflect something personal, warm, and meaningful.

Since launching Dulce Luna Bakery, I have dedicated myself to creating homemade desserts that bring people together during life’s special moments. From Dominican-style cakes and tres leches to flan and other sweet treats, every order is made with care and gratitude for the customers who continue to support my dream.

Building this business has taught me perseverance, patience, and the importance of believing in yourself even when the path is uncertain. My goal is to continue growing Dulce Luna Bakery, reach more people in my community, and create a lasting brand that reflects the love and dedication behind every dessert I make.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
No, it has not been an easy road. When I started, I had very little knowledge about baking and no formal training. Most of what I learned came from reading recipes, watching videos, researching online, and practicing over and over again.

At the time, I did not have the financial resources to invest in baking classes, so I had to teach myself and learn through trial and error. It required a great deal of dedication, patience, and sacrifice. There were many moments when things did not turn out as planned, but I continued learning and improving with each experience.

Today, I am grateful for how far I have come. The support of my customers and the trust they place in me have played a huge role in my journey. Their encouragement motivates me to continue growing, improving my skills, and building Dulce Luna Bakery one step at a time.

We’ve been impressed with Dulce Luna Bakery , but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Dulce Luna Bakery is a home-based bakery specializing in Dominican-style cakes, tres leches, flan, and others desserts created for life’s most special moments. My goal is not only to make delicious desserts, but also to create memorable experiences for my customers.

What sets Dulce Luna Bakery apart is the personal connection behind the brand. Every order is prepared with care, attention to detail, and genuine appreciation for the customers who trust me to be part of their celebrations.

One of the most unique aspects of my brand is Osita Luna, the mascot of Dulce Luna Bakery. Osita Luna is more than just a character she is part of the experience we offer. For special occasions, Osita Luna makes surprise deliveries of cakes and desserts, helping create unforgettable moments for birthdays, celebrations, and other important events.

The idea came from my desire to make Dulce Luna Bakery more than just a bakery. I wanted customers to receive not only a dessert, but also a joyful and memorable experience. Seeing the smiles and emotional reactions when Osita Luna arrives with a special delivery is one of the most rewarding parts of this journey.

What I am most proud of is building a brand that combines quality desserts with creativity, warmth, and unique experiences. My goal has always been for people to remember not only the taste of our desserts, but also the happiness and memories that came with them.

I want readers to know that behind every order is a story of hard work, learning, and passion. Every dessert that leaves Dulce Luna Bakery is made with gratitude and a commitment to making each occasion a little sweeter and more special.

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
I believe that every entrepreneur has to take risks at some point. For me, one of the biggest risks was starting a business without having formal training in baking. I taught myself through research, practice, and determination, which meant stepping outside of my comfort zone and trusting that I could learn along the way.

Another risk was putting my work out into the world and allowing others to judge it. When I first started selling desserts, I didn’t know if people would like them or if the business would grow. It can be intimidating to share something you created and hope others see value in it.

I don’t consider myself someone who takes reckless risks. Instead, I believe in taking calculated risks ones that are supported by hard work, preparation, and a willingness to learn. Growth often requires taking chances, even when there are no guarantees.

Starting Dulce Luna Bakery taught me that some of the most rewarding opportunities come from being willing to take that first step, even when you feel uncertain. If I had never taken that chance, I would not have discovered a passion, a business, and a community of customers that I am incredibly grateful for today.
