Hidden Gems: Meet Mya Anderson-Weaver of New Holland Coffee Co

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mya Anderson-Weaver.

Hi Mya, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am Mya Anderson-Weaver and I am the general manager of New Holland Coffee Co. I have lived in the heart of Lancaster County Pennsylvania my entire life. In 2019 I left college as an unmoored film and media arts major. I had no idea where I wanted to go or what I wanted to do with my life. I knew I needed a job so on a complete whim I applied to New Holland Coffee Co. I became a barista and within six months I had moved into a management role. The rest is history. I have now been employed with the company for seven years. My dedication to the company is in no small part due to the exemplary leadership of the owners, Mark and Mary Fisher, my wonderful co-managers, and the variety of incredible people that I call friends and co-workers. Through this role I have discovered a passion for coffee, for the restaurant industry and an aptitude for leadership that I never would have suspected I possessed. I am endlessly grateful for the opportunities I have working for New Holland Coffee Co.
One of the reasons I am so passionate about my role and my job are the values that the company has always held. We care about three things. Providing incredible coffee and food, providing a welcoming space for community, and providing a safe place for young people to experience their first job. We work tirelessly to uphold those values.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The restaurant industry is constantly changing and evolving and it is our responsibility to grow with it. Sometimes it feels like as soon as we have everything figured out there is a new trend or change to contend with. However this is what keeps the job so interested and fulfilling. Mark (the owner) and my co-managers and I are adept at creative problem solving and we all work together to continue to move the company forward. Like every other restaurant one of our most difficult seasons was the Covid 19 pandemic of 202o. During that difficult time we survived via our recently installed pick-up window which allowed us to continue service even during the early months. We also received an outpouring of support from our New Holland and Lancaster city communities.

We’ve been impressed with New Holland Coffee Co, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Our doors first opened to the New Holland community in 2005. Over the past two decades, we have had the privilege of witnessing the growth of the coffee industry while growing alongside it.

In 2018, we expanded our original location to three times its size and the community’s enthusiastic response affirmed our vision. Inspired by that support, we continued to grow within Lancaster county by opening our second location in Lancaster City in April 2020. Three years later, we were thrilled to welcome guests to our third location and largest project in the charming town of Lititz.

Growth remains at the heart of everything we do — from the plants that bring warmth and character to our spaces, to our passion for coffee and continued growth within the industry. Above all, our greatest joy is creating places where community can flourish; where conversations are shared, relationships are built, and every guest feels genuinely welcomed.

We offer delicious food, fresh from-scratch pastries, and of course coffee. Our coffee is meant for everyone. You can come to our establishment and enjoy a sweet latte topped with cold foam or a rich and bold cup of black hot coffee. We endeavor to exceed in every form of the coffee genre.

What does success mean to you?
I personally define success in two ways. In one way, the fact that we are able to continue to grow and have all of our shops be full of customers is the most practical form of success. People support us so we are able to continue being an active business in the community. T

he second way is seeing the friendships and community grow by way our shop. Watching our employees forming groups and friendships with each other. Chatting with our regulars where we know both their coffee orders and their life stories. The mutual support between the communities and our shops is what truly defines our success as a business.
