Hidden Gems: Meet Maureen Priest of Salt & Silence

Today we’d like to introduce you to Maureen Priest.

Hi Maureen, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My journey began in 2004 with a passion for the practice of yoga and serving my community. Over the last two decades I’ve dedicated myself to becoming a destination for holistic evidence based practices. Today, our homestead and studio is a sanctuary for those seeking authentic connection—to the land, to community, and to themselves.
My story is one of grit and determination. Living your passion is not an easy path but it is very rewarding.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t been a smooth road. We’ve had many twists and turns in our business. During Covid, we had to pivot and reinvent our business. My husband’s setback with chronic Lyme’s and my son’s neurodivergence inspired our new path forward. It has been a difficult but beautiful, unexpected reinvention.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Salt & Silence?
Salt & Silence Homestead and Studio is a sanctuary for those seeking authentic connection—to the land, to community, and to themselves. Every gathering is designed to honor the rhythms of the earth and the nourishment that comes from slowing down.
We offer day long retreats, holistic education, therapeutic yoga, holistic health coaching and holistic private chef services.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
I was fortunate to have many mentors in my career. When you have a passion for what you do, the right mentor will appear. However, there are many different kinds of mentors so be mindful to have clarity about what you need help solving to receive the appropriate mentorship.
