Hidden Gems: Meet Leroy Robinson of Mr. Hair Inc./Leroy’s Barbershop

Today we’d like to introduce you to Leroy Robinson.

Hi Leroy, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I am a third generation Barber/Teacher. And businessman. Just as my father was. Not only did we own barbershops, but we also owned arcades produce shops and we even sold cars and much more. So it was only natural that I followed in his footsteps. And I’m proud that I have. As of today I still own a barbershop. The address is 4123 Lancaster Avenue Philadelphia PA 19146.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Quite naturally is always gonna be some struggles that’s part of life. But the main thing about struggles is how you handle them, and through my belief in my Lord and my upbringing! I was able to overcome obstacles that were in front of me. I’m grateful.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Mr. Hair Inc./Leroy’s Barbershop?
We specialize in hair care for men, women, and children. We’ve always been a part of the community as much as that we give haircut scholarships to students who are very proficient in school. And once they go away to college, their haircuts are free until they graduate. I also participate in all neighborhood activities we have a reading hub for the children. Just give them something to do then bury themselves in their telephone. I also am involved in back-to-school activities with school of Philadelphia college of osteopathic medicine, also the Philadelphia zoo. So we believe back to the community that’s also important to us.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Growing up, I was a shy little kid had plenty of friends and we had fun. Our mothers and fathers provided us an atmosphere that was nurturing, and that we could grow to be productive in our society. I also had a southern upbringing because my mother and father were from the south
