Today we’d like to introduce you to Joann Griffith.
Joann, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I was a single mother of 5 great children working 2 and 3 jobs just to make ends meet. In 2014 I meet a wonderful man who took to my children right away and acted as if they were his own. I as well took to his son .2017 we got engaged at the Pittsburgh renaissance fair. Where he went to great lengths to call a head of time to let the king know what I would be wearing that day and he took pictures and sent to the king. During the peasant dance the king said I’m going to hand you over to my most endeared trusting knight, He was dressed in a full suit of armor.
In 2018 of January we were married were he wore half of his suit of armor to marry me in. We have backed each other from day one. We traveled all over the world enjoying life. In 2022 my mother got sick with kidney disease and failure. She was on dialysis our whole family dynamics have changed, and the children all helped take care of my mom and in-laws whether it was day or night and my husband was amazing with my mother adapted our house for her and made any accommodations that I needed and wanted something to do so we started and online business selling live on Facebook. She would drop off packages for me at the post office. In July of 2023 we got my LLC we called it Royal Castle Consignment In December of 2023. With the promise that I would start my LLC with a Brick + Mortar and leave it to all of the grandchildren.. so that’s exactly what my husband and I done in September 2024 started a brick and mortar in the little town of new Brighton Pennsylvania. We’ve been there ever since we’ve had our ups and downs. We’ve slowed down on traveling quite a bit due to running the business however, I love the fact I never knew who’s walking through my door. I am a sociable butterfly, and I love to chitchat and make new friends. We are becoming quite famous and successful. I am all over TikTok, Facebook, and Whatnot with my business it’s a great accomplishment.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
We struggle every day in the economy we’ve had shoplifters we’ve had slow months. We’ve had events we go to. We just make back what we spent to go, so yes, there are many struggles. There’s paying your taxes on time. There’s all the bills all the day-to-day task that you don’t think about when running a business. There is all the advertising which I do all myself. I’m up at 5 AM and I am pushing out all of our sales for the day and events that we’re going to be at. It’s a lot to keep up on, but I managed to do it.

Greetings, we are Joann & Peter. We are parents of six, grandparents of eleven, and founders of the Royal Castle Consignment. Joann works as an CNA and med tech for years but always dreamed of owning something of her own. Peter works in the IT. We do I not knowing who’s walking through our door. We love to chitchat with anyone who walks in our store. We are well known for our Renaissance and our spiritual items.
What were you like growing up?
I was quiet, kept to myself grew up, helping my mother run my grandfather‘s antique store redoing furniture from scratch that was bought at auctions we used to go to, so I guess the business part of me came out late in life. I used to like riding my bike as a kid hanging out with my best friend. I’m going to football games and an amusement park here local Kenwood.
