Today we’d like to introduce you to Ana Heras-Castillo.
Hi Ana, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My professional journey began long before I entered real estate. I built my career in brand and consumer marketing, working with several Fortune 500 companies. With an MBA and a background in marketing, strategy, and business development, I learned early on the importance of understanding people, building relationships, and creating value.
Almost 15 years ago, my husband and I moved to the Philadelphia suburbs to raise our family. We settled in Wayne, in the heart of Philadelphia’s Main Line, and it quickly became home. As we raised our two children, I became involved in our schools, local organizations, and community activities, developing an appreciation for what makes the Mainline such a special place to live.
My path into real estate started when I joined a local brokerage to lead its marketing efforts. I spent three years focused on branding, social media, and marketing, but as I began working more closely with clients, I realized how much I enjoyed the personal side of the business. The more involved I became, the more it made sense to transition into the role of an agent myself. It felt like a natural next step, bringing together my background in marketing and business with my love of working with people.
Today, I’m a Realtor with Real Brokerage, located right here in Wayne, helping buyers and sellers throughout Philadelphia’s Main Line and surrounding suburbs. I bring a combination of corporate marketing experience, business knowledge, and local expertise to every transaction. I’m also bilingual in English and Spanish, which allows me to connect with an even broader community.
Building my real estate business while raising a family has been both challenging and incredibly rewarding. What I love most is that no two clients or transactions are alike. Every situation presents an opportunity to think strategically, solve problems, and help people make important decisions with confidence.
Looking back, each chapter of my career has led naturally to the next. I’m proud of the business I’ve built, grateful for the relationships I’ve made along the way, and excited to continue growing in a community my family and I are so fortunate to call home.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I wouldn’t say it’s always been a smooth road, but I think that’s true of most worthwhile journeys. One of the biggest challenges was transitioning from an established corporate career to building a business of my own. Even with years of professional experience, real estate is a completely different world, and building a client base takes time, consistency, and patience.
Unlike a traditional corporate role, success doesn’t always happen on a predictable timeline. The market changes, transactions can be complicated, and sometimes things don’t go as planned, no matter how much effort you put in.
On a personal level, balancing the demands of real estate with raising two children, caring for aging parents, running a household etc. has certainly come with its challenges. Like many people in the sandwich generation, I find myself juggling the needs of my children, an aging parent, and a career that doesn’t always operate on a 9-to-5 schedule. It’s not always easy, and I’ve had to learn to be flexible, prioritize, and accept that some days simply don’t go according to plan.
But I also believe those experiences have made me more resilient, empathetic, and resourceful, both personally and professionally. They’ve given me a greater appreciation for the different stages of life my clients are navigating, whether they’re buying their first home, raising a family, downsizing, or making decisions for aging parents. At the end of the day, I’ve learned that success isn’t just about growing a business. It’s also about being there for the people who depend on you, both at home and at work.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I’m a Realtor with Real Brokerage, specializing in residential real estate throughout Philadelphia’s Main Line and surrounding suburbs. I work with both buyers and sellers, from first-time homebuyers to those looking to move up, downsize, or transition into a new chapter of life.
What sets me apart is the combination of my corporate marketing background, analytical approach, business experience, and local market knowledge, balanced with a genuine ability to connect with people on a personal level. Having spent much of my career in marketing and brand strategy, I understand how to position a property, reach the right audience, and create opportunities for my clients. Equally important is knowing how to analyze the market, negotiate effectively, and help clients make informed decisions. But beyond the business side, I’ve always had a natural ability to connect with people, understand their needs, and empathize with their circumstances. I genuinely care about the people I work with, and I believe that personal connection, combined with thoughtful guidance and attention to detail, is what truly makes a difference.
I’ve always believed that real estate is about much more than buying and selling homes. Every client has a different story, different priorities, and different goals. I take the time to really understand what matters to them and tailor my approach accordingly. Whether I’m helping a seller prepare their home to maximize its value or guiding a buyer through a competitive market, I want my clients to feel informed, supported, and confident throughout the process.
One of the things I’m most proud of is the relationships I’ve built and the trust my clients place in me. I never want anyone to feel like they’re just another transaction. I’m hands-on, detail-oriented, and very involved from beginning to end, and I think my clients appreciate knowing they have someone who is genuinely looking out for their best interests.
I’m also bilingual in English and Spanish, which allows me to connect with and serve a broader range of clients.
Ultimately, the brand I’m building is centered around thoughtful service, strong marketing, honest advice, and lasting relationships. I want people to know that when they work with me, they’re getting someone who brings both the business expertise and the personal attention needed to help them achieve the best possible outcome.
Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
I’m a big believer in continuous learning and finding ways to work smarter, not just harder. Coming from a marketing background, I’ve always been interested in technology and how it can help me be more efficient, creative, and better serve my clients, whether it’s brainstorming marketing ideas, researching a topic, or simply helping me organize my thoughts.
I also make it a priority to stay informed about what’s happening in the real estate market, both locally and nationally. I enjoy keeping up with industry news, market trends, and new marketing strategies because there’s always something new to learn.
Outside of work, I find that some of my best inspiration comes from conversations with people, spending time with family and friends, and staying connected to my community. I’m also a big believer in staying active, whether it’s working out, taking my dance class, or going for walks with friends. Exercise and movement really help me stay centered, clear my mind, and maintain a healthy balance between work and everyday life. I’m naturally curious, and I think staying active, connected, and open to new experiences is one of the best ways to continue growing, both personally and professionally.
