Exploring Life & Business with Senni Vilander of Active Hour Gym and Fitness

Today we’d like to introduce you to Senni Vilander.

Hi Senni, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I got into fitness in year 2024 after break up with my long time boyfriend. I wanted to really get myself new hobby and I found this gym near me which offered group fitness classes. In 6 months I became fitness instructor and I started working on that gym and in 9 months in I became certified personal trainer and started to get own clientele. After working for the other gym for 6 months they had to close their doors and our members asked what I am going to do next. And that’s how Active Hour Gym and Fitness born.

We started at outside working out at the park and when winter came I rented small turf area on other gym. Finally on February 21st we opened up our first own location on Easton. It’s been rollercoaster of emotions and sweat and tears but I am so blessed of all my trusting members. They are my family and that what makes this the best risk I ever made.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s been total rollercoaster. On starters I was partnering up with the other trainer and this supposed to be our both dreams come thru but after months of disappointments, he decided this wasn’t the place from him and he left and left me behind with all loans and worries. We were just signed lease for the place for 5 years and it was absolutely scary times to trying to figure out how to survive all of this by myself.

First finding even suitable place to open gym it was months after months and when we finally find our spot, all inspections and safety protocols needed to upgrade. All remodeling took way longer than I was planned and we ended up open 2 months later than we planned.

Took some time to get wheels rolling since I did not plan to do this all by myself but with amazing people behind me supporting me I was able to get things moving smoothly. Can’t be say enough how much people behind me means to me.

We’ve been impressed with Active Hour Gym and Fitness, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
