Today we’d like to introduce you to LORNA CHING-CARTER.
Hi LORNA, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I WROTE THE FOLLOWING FOR MY WEBSITE AND SO I JUST CUT AND PASTE HERE:
Since 2002, Lorna Ching-Carter has been dedicated to providing comprehensive, patient-centered care. She holds advanced certification as an ABAAHP Diplomate. Furthermore, she is board certified by the NCCPA and certified in functional medicine through the Kharrazian Institute. As a member of the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine (A4M), she remains committed to lifelong learning and stays at the forefront of both evidence-based and emerging therapeutic approaches. She further advanced her expertise in women’s health through specialized training in bioidentical hormone therapy under the mentorship of Daved Rosensweet, MD, at the Institute of Bioidentical Medicine.
Lorna is a 2001 graduate of the Drexel University Physician Assistant Program and a 1990 graduate of Rutgers University. Her professional background includes functional and integrative medicine, primary care, hospital-based gastroenterology, and pain management. She also spent over a decade providing house calls to homebound patients, an experience that deeply shaped her compassionate, patient-centered approach to care.
Lorna’s passion for functional medicine grew from her own health journey. In 2017, she began experiencing a decline in stress resilience and cognitive focus. When conventional approaches failed to provide meaningful solutions, she immersed herself in research and worked closely with a highly skilled practitioner. Through this process, she not only resolved her symptoms, but achieved a new level of health optimization. This experience transformed her clinical mission.
Today, Lorna is deeply committed to helping patients uncover root causes, resolve chronic and complex health concerns, and move beyond symptom management toward true wellness. She is known for her thorough, research-driven approach, her dedication to ongoing education, and her collaboration with leading functional medicine professionals on behalf of her patients.
Her guiding philosophy is simple:
“Love the patients. Love the community. Make an impact.”
Beyond the clinic, Lorna is a devoted mother, a proud pet parent to two Havanese, and has been happily married for over 25 years. She is not only a clinician, but a trusted partner in health and a compassionate presence to those she serves.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
There has been many challenges along the way. 1) I saw a disconnect between my training as a physician assistant in the traditional medical model and the real outcome of patient long term recovery. It wasn’t until I experienced health issues myself that I fully grasped this limitations of the healthcare system. Traditional medicine did not get me well, integrative functional medicine gave me a full recovery and more.
2) The trepidation of many unknowns of running a small business and the cost associated with it. I do not have marketing background so I am learning as I go.
3) I am discovering that a grass root effort is more effective than big advertisements.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My private practice is a patient-focus business where those we serve matter and are heard. We go above and beyond for our clients making sure that all questions are addressed. We bring education and understanding to what is happening to their health problems. I specialize in Functional Medicine, an approach that seeks to address root causes and NOT address the symptoms alone. The goal is to achieve long-term remission and/or permanently reversing the patient concerns. This can only be done by looking deeply and thoroughly investigating what patients provide in their intake, conversations, and test results. Too often many of us are frustrated with a broken health care system and the public is left with dashed hope. At my office, a different approach is taken that works.
Some of the problems that I see as a functional medicine practitioner include: Gut health, Autoimmunity, chronic fatigue, anxiety, pain, hormone deficiency, tick born illness, metabolic health, thyroid issues, brain health, and more.
I am known for my thoroughness and commitment to my patients. Many people so appreciate my efforts to go above and beyond for them. I take great pride in how I do things and the great results that I yield for them. At Optimal Root Wellness, the name speaks for itself. I want to see people achieve long-term wellness and health optimization. Those who walk through our doors will have a very different experience that redefines what healthcare should be: quality service, patient-centered, education and support.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
I love the location of King of Prussia. It is easy access for many who travel the distance for their appointments. Just minutes from the Pennsylvania Turnpike.
I do NOT like seeing so many people needlessly suffer with chronic symptoms and not getting better through this country’s traditional healthcare system. I created Optimal Root Wellness, P.C. as an alternative so that the public has an option to get the medical care they deserve.
