Exploring Life & Business with Jamie Hill of JV Home Remodeling LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jamie Hill.

Hi Jamie, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.

I started JV Home Remodeling in 2005, initially installing doors in apartment complexes throughout Philadelphia. I had a team working with me, and for several years we focused on doing that work well and building a reputation for reliability.

After taking some time away for personal reasons, my path changed in a beautiful way. I met Garfield, who owned and operated a construction company in New York. After we began dating and he moved to Philadelphia, we combined our experience and began taking on kitchen and bathroom remodeling projects throughout the city.

From there, our business continued to grow. We connected with RF Installations, a company that completes kitchen-remodeling work for Home Depot, which opened the door to larger-scale installation and remodeling opportunities. Today, JV Home Remodeling is a family-owned company built on hard work, experience, and the belief that every client deserves a home they are excited to live in.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
No, it has not been a smooth road. Like many small businesses, we were deeply affected by COVID. The uncertainty, disruptions in construction and remodeling work, and the impact it had on families and businesses created a very challenging season for us.

Then, in 2021, I faced a life-changing health crisis. I became critically ill, suffered a stroke and seizures, and spent a month in inpatient rehabilitation. I had to learn how to live differently, adjust to medications and blood thinners, and slow down in a business I had worked so hard to build. It was one of the hardest seasons of my life—not only personally, but professionally.

That experience changed my perspective. It taught me that resilience is not always about pushing through at full speed; sometimes it is about adapting, accepting help, and continuing one step at a time. COVID and my health challenges forced our business to slow down, but they did not end our story. With faith, determination, and the support of my family, we continued rebuilding—both personally and professionally. Those experiences made me more appreciative, more intentional, and even more committed to building a business that my family can be proud of.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
JV Home Remodeling LLC is a family-owned remodeling company serving clients throughout Pennsylvania and New Jersey. We specialize in kitchen and bathroom remodeling, cabinetry, installation, and renovation work. We work with homeowners who want to update and improve their spaces, as well as installation partners on kitchen-remodeling projects.

Our company has built a strong relationship with RF Installations, completing kitchen-installation work connected with Home Depot. That experience has allowed us to bring organized, professional installation standards to every project while still keeping the personal service of a family-run business.

What sets us apart is that we truly care about the finished result and the experience our clients have along the way. Remodeling can feel overwhelming, so we value clear communication, reliability, craftsmanship, and respect for each client’s home. Garfield leads our field operations and brings hands-on construction experience to the work, while I manage client communication, scheduling, and coordination.

We are most proud that JV Home Remodeling has continued to grow through hard work, relationships, and word of mouth. We want people to know that whether they need a kitchen installation, a bathroom update, or a larger remodeling project, they are working with a team that takes pride in helping bring their vision to life.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
Our team deserves so much of the credit for the success of JV Home Remodeling. The men and women who show up, do the work, solve problems, and take pride in the finished product are the true superstars of this business. A remodeling company is only as strong as the people behind it, and we have been fortunate to work with people whose skill, work ethic, and dedication helped us build our reputation over the years.

Our customers also deserve credit. We have been blessed to work with many good people who trusted us with their homes and allowed us to be part of projects that mattered to their families. Those relationships, referrals, and repeat opportunities have helped our business continue to grow.

Of course, Garfield deserves credit as well. His construction experience, leadership in the field, and commitment to getting the work done right have been a major part of the company’s growth. JV Home Remodeling is truly a team effort, and I am grateful for every person who has played a role in helping us get here.
