Today we’d like to introduce you to Lindsey Henzy.
Hi Lindsey , we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Home&Hue really began with a love for creating beautiful, meaningful spaces and a belief that a home should feel deeply personal to the people who live there. What started as a passion grew into something much bigger than I could have imagined.
Over the past five years, I’ve had the opportunity to grow Home&Hue from an idea into a full-service interior design and home staging company serving families throughout the Pittsburgh area. Like most entrepreneurial stories, the path hasn’t been perfectly linear. I’ve learned by doing, taken risks, navigated seasons of growth and uncertainty, and continually refined what I wanted Home&Hue to become.
At the same time, I’ve been building this business while building my family. I’m now a mom to two little girls, and motherhood has given me an entirely new perspective on both entrepreneurship and design. It has made me incredibly intentional about the life I’m creating, the example I’m setting for my daughters, and the way we design homes for our clients. A beautiful home matters, but the life that happens inside of it matters so much more.
Today, Home&Hue has evolved beyond simply making spaces look beautiful. We help our clients create homes that feel elevated, functional and distinctly their own, whether we’re furnishing a home, renovating an existing space or collaborating on a larger construction project. I’ve been fortunate to work with wonderful clients, build relationships within Pittsburgh’s design and real estate community, and see our work receive recognition that I never would have imagined when I started.
I’m also still very much in the building stage of my story. I have big dreams for where Home&Hue can go, and my faith has played an important role in trusting that I don’t have to have every step figured out before taking the next one. I’m incredibly grateful for how far the business has come, but I’m even more excited about what we’re building next.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a completely smooth road, and I think that’s true of most businesses that are built from the ground up. One of my biggest challenges has been learning that being passionate about what you do and building a sustainable business are two very different things.
For a long time, my instinct was to say yes, work harder and give more. As Home&Hue grew, I had to learn how to put a value on my time and creativity, establish boundaries, refine our processes and make decisions based not only on what was best for a project, but also on what was best for the long-term health of the business.
Motherhood has added another layer to that. I’ve built much of Home&Hue while becoming a mom to two little girls, and there have absolutely been seasons where I’ve questioned how to give my best to both. Owning a business means there is always something else you could be doing, so I’ve had to become very intentional about defining success for myself. I want to build something meaningful and ambitious, but I also want my daughters to remember that I was present for their lives.
There have been projects that taught me difficult lessons, decisions I would make differently today, and moments when I’ve wondered whether the sacrifices of entrepreneurship were worth it. But those experiences have also shaped the way I lead Home&Hue now.
My faith has been a constant through all of it. I’ve learned to trust God’s timing, especially in seasons when I couldn’t see exactly where the business was headed. Some of the biggest challenges have ultimately pushed me to become a better designer, business owner, wife and mom. I’m still learning, but I think that willingness to continually grow has been one of the most important parts of our story.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Home&Hue is a full-service interior design and home staging firm serving the greater Pittsburgh area. We specialize in residential interiors, furnishings, renovations and new construction, working closely with our clients from the initial vision all the way through the final details.
Our work is rooted in a modern-traditional approach—spaces that feel elevated and thoughtfully designed, but also warm, comfortable and livable. I love incorporating character through color, pattern, millwork, natural materials and unexpected details. More than anything, though, I never want someone to walk into a Home&Hue project and feel like they’ve seen the exact same room somewhere else. The goal is for the home to feel distinctly like the people who live there.
I think that is one of the things that sets us apart. We aren’t designing for a photograph or chasing whatever happens to be trending online. We take the time to understand how our clients live, what they love, what they need from their home and even the things they may not know how to articulate yet. Then we translate all of that into a cohesive design that feels beautiful but still feels like them.
Because I’m also a mom, I have a particular appreciation for the way a home needs to function for a family. I believe you can have beautiful things and still have a home where kids are growing up, friends are gathering around the kitchen island and everyday life is happening. Some of my favorite design decisions are the ones that make a space both more beautiful and easier to live in.
What I’m most proud of is how much Home&Hue has grown while still maintaining that personal connection with our clients. Seeing our work recognized by publications like Architectural Digest Pittsburgh Metro has been incredibly meaningful, but the moments that stay with me most are when a client walks into their finished space and says, “This feels like us.” That is ultimately what we’re trying to create.
I’m also proud of the reputation and relationships we’ve built here in Pittsburgh. This business has grown largely through trust—clients trusting us with their homes, families and investments, and then recommending us to the people they care about. To me, that is one of the greatest compliments we can receive.
Home&Hue is continuing to evolve, but the heart of the company remains the same: creating beautiful, intentional homes that are meant to be lived in and loved for years to come.
Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
My faith is my greatest resource in both life and business. Staying grounded in Scripture and prayer helps me keep perspective, especially in seasons when I’m trying to balance being a business owner, wife and mom. Entrepreneurship can make you feel like everything depends on you, and my faith continually reminds me that it doesn’t.
I also love podcasts and books centered around personal growth, marriage, motherhood, leadership and entrepreneurship. I’m constantly looking for ways to become better—not just at running a business, but at being a better wife, mom, leader and person. I think some of the best ideas for business actually come from resources that have nothing to do with business at all.
Admittedly, I use AI frequently. It has become one of my favorite tools for organizing ideas, thinking through business decisions, creating systems and turning the million thoughts in my head into something actionable.
From a creative standpoint, I find inspiration everywhere—travel, restaurants, hotels, fashion, old homes, magazines and simply paying attention to the details of spaces around me. I try not to rely too heavily on design trends or social media for inspiration because I think creativity is much more interesting when you pull from real life.
Ultimately, the resources that help me most are the ones that keep me learning while also reminding me what actually matters. I’m ambitious and have big goals for Home&Hue, but success to me means very little if I’m not also building a life and family that I’m proud of.
