Today we’d like to introduce you to Laura Turner.
Hi Laura, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
After 25 years working in retail and working up the career ladder I decided to follow my entrepreneur goals and opened up my Photographer business. I started with photographing family, newborns, weddings, headshots, and stumbled onto Boudoir. My love for boudoir started in 2018 when I had my very first session. With my passion for empowering women and my fashion background I embraced my calling and have loved every minute of it since. Showing up for my clients is a gift, I am able to help women transform how they see themselves as they transition though this thing called life! New bride, post partum mother, or major life change I have been here for those women and have helped them thought that time of life.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
After building an amazing community in NJ over a 10 year period my family and I moved to Central PA. While the move was getting my family back to our home state it was a hard transition for my business from a busy city to a slower paced city. My services are based on referrals and word of mouth, that is how I grew into one of the top Boudoir Photographers in NJ. So while this move was great for my family, I had to start to rebuild everything rom scratch in 2023 when me moved. Has it been easy? Not at all! However where there is passion there is growth!
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
My photography has always been a vibe. From the rich jewel tones to the bold black an white images I find joy in creating for my clients. After years of trying to figure out what I truly love to photograph I have found my niche, Boudoir. Pairing my background in Operations and Visual Merchandising I am able to create unique areas within my studio that not only tell a story, but my clients thrive when photographed in them. From my luxury wings- Yes I am know for those wings- to the satin robes, and all the other fun little touches client come from all over the Tri-State to have a session with me. I am always trying new techniques, exploring my education to better my craft, and tapping into what my clients want out of their session. I find the light, bend it, and create with it.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
Growing up in farm country in Chester County were the best memories I could ever have. I was always outside even in the winter. I remember laying outside in the middle of January in the snow looking up at the stars. I would gaze on the sky for hours. I was always a creative. I picked up playing the Flute when I was 10 and played though my senior year in high school. I was an excellent artist as well. I would paint and draw, but that was never my true calling. It didn’t matter what time of year it was, you could always find me outside running around or reading a book.
