Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristin Brockman.
Hi Kristin, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started my photography business in 2019 when my daughter was 3 years old and began going to preschool a few days a week. It was my way of carving out a few hours in my week to do something creative, just for myself. I expected to enjoy doing photography, because of course I was interested in it or I wouldn’t be where I am today. But I truly had no idea how much I’d learn or how much I’d fall in love with it! When my daughter started elementary school a few years later, my business was thriving and I decided to offer more sessions and make the jump to working full time. Fast forward a few more years to today, and I’m still blessed with a thriving photography business that fills my cup. It’s so inspiring and fulfilling to meet so many sweet families and capture beautiful memories together!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
When I started my business, I was NOT an expert in photography. I had so much to learn when it came to operating my camera, understanding light, interacting with clients, editing, and all the details it takes to run your own business. But I just kept learning and making progress, one step at a time.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I specialize in newborn, maternity, and family photography, and I’d describe my style of photography as natural, family-centered lifestyle photography. I believe what sets me apart from many of the other photographers in my area is my natural light studio, my emphasis on capturing authentic expressions and emotions, and my true to color editing style. I’m proud of how many families return to me again and again for numerous sessions over the years as their family continues to grow. It is so much fun for me to get to know my clients so well over time, and it’s the greatest compliment for my work as well.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
I have confidence in my ability to learn something new and am willing to put in whatever amount of work is necessary to succeed. So whenever I need to learn something new in order to make my business stronger, I go in search of the resources I need to figure it out and keep moving forward.
