Today we’d like to introduce you to Kellie.
Hi Kellie, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey into Reiki and sound healing really began through my own experience with pain, caregiving, healing, and transformation.
In 2021, my dad suffered a rare spinal stroke that completely changed the trajectory of our family’s lives. The stroke left him paralyzed from the waist down. At the time, I was working in the corporate world and building the career I thought I was supposed to have. But as my dad’s needs changed, so did my priorities. Consumed by burnout and realizing that my life was asking something different of me, I ultimately made the decision to step away from the corporate world and dedicate that chapter of my life to caring for my dad.
That decision was one of the most transformative choices I have ever made. I spent years navigating the realities of caregiving while watching someone I loved deeply go through something that neither of us had ever anticipated. My dad sadly passed away in November 2025 after years of fighting through health complications.
Losing him brought an entirely different layer of grief and reflection. Throughout those years, I was forced to slow down, shift my priorities, and question many of the ideas I had previously held about success, purpose, and what it means to live a meaningful life. In many ways, I had spent years trying to move forward and achieve what I thought I was supposed to achieve—and what society deemed as “successful”—only to realize that sometimes life redirects us in ways we never could have planned.
Just a few weeks after my dad passed away, I met the love of my life. The timing felt incredibly meaningful, and I truly believe we were meant to find each other when we did. After such a painful chapter, meeting him brought an unexpected sense of love, happiness, and hope back into my life. It reminded me that even after profound loss, life can still bring you beautiful new beginnings. My hope for the future was slowly and gradually being restored.
I have always been an intuitive and spiritual person and while caregiving, I became increasingly drawn to holistic healing. I wanted to understand not only how we care for the physical body, but also how we can care for our emotional and energetic well-being.
That led me to Reiki energy healing and sound healing. I discovered these modalities as tools for grounding, restoration, relaxation, and self-connection, and I experienced firsthand how powerful it can be to simply create space to slow down and be present. I even had the pleasure of playing my crystal sound bowls a few times before my dad passed away.
I decided to pursue formal training through the Meditate School of Mindfulness and Sound, where I achieved my Practitioner of Sound Therapies certification. I also became certified in Reiki Levels I and II and continued deepening my spiritual understanding through working with spiritual coaches. I wanted my practice to be rooted not only in my own experiences, but also in intentional training and a genuine commitment to learning and helping others.
My connection to sound and music actually began long before I ever discovered sound healing. Most of my youth, I spent studying music, which gave me an early understanding of how deeply sound, vibration, rhythm, and frequency can impact us. I was also a first-chair alto saxophone player in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia Jazz Band.
Although I didn’t understand it in the context of healing at the time, I now recognize that those early experiences laid the foundation for the work I do today. As I began exploring holistic healing and discovered sound therapy, it felt like a natural progression—returning to something that had always been a part of my life, but learning to experience and use sound with a deeper intention of creating relaxation, grounding, and space for healing.
As I developed my practice, I realized that I didn’t want my brand to simply be about providing Reiki sessions or sound baths. I wanted it to represent something much bigger: the belief that the difficult experiences we go through don’t have to be the end of our story. They can become catalysts for growth, self-discovery, redirection, and purpose.
That’s where the name Transmuting Pain Into Purpose came from.
To me, transmutation means taking something that feels heavy, painful, or even life-altering and allowing it to transform into something meaningful. It doesn’t mean romanticizing pain or pretending that difficult experiences don’t hurt. It means acknowledging what happened, allowing ourselves to feel it, and eventually asking: What can I create from this? What can this teach me? Who can I become because of it?
My own experience taught me that healing isn’t always linear, and it doesn’t necessarily mean going back to who you were before something happened. Sometimes healing means allowing yourself to become someone new.
Today, I create a space where people can step away from the noise and demands of everyday life, slow down, release what they’re carrying, and reconnect with themselves. Whether someone is navigating grief, a major life transition, stress, emotional heaviness, or simply feels disconnected from themselves, I want my practice to offer a space where they don’t have to have all the answers.
One of the things I love most about sound healing is that the body doesn’t have to do anything—it simply gets to receive. We spend so much of our lives constantly doing, thinking, processing, and trying to figure things out. During a sound healing experience, there is nothing to accomplish and nothing you need to force. You can simply lie back, listen, breathe, and allow the sound to wash over you. Your only job is to receive and be present, and I think there is something incredibly powerful about giving yourself permission to just be.
I also think my background has shaped the way I approach this work. Before entering the healing space, much of my professional experience centered around communication, marketing, and connecting with people. I’ve always been drawn to storytelling and to understanding what makes people feel seen and understood. My healing practice has allowed me to bring those parts of myself together in a much more meaningful and fulfilling way.
I’m still on my own journey of healing and growth, and that is something I want to remain honest about. I don’t believe I need to have everything figured out in order to hold space for someone else. In fact, I think some of the most meaningful connections come from recognizing that we are all human beings moving through our own seasons of change.
Ultimately, Transmuting Pain Into Purpose is both the name of my business and a philosophy I try to live by. My hope is that through Reiki, sound, and intentional space, I can help people remember that even after the most painful chapters of our lives, there can still be enlightenment, redirection, renewal, and purpose.
Healing isn’t about becoming someone completely different. Sometimes, it’s about coming home to the person you were always meant to be.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The journey has not been without its challenges. Toward the end of my time in the corporate world, I was experiencing my own health struggles, including vertigo and tinnitus, while also feeling increasingly burned out and disconnected from the life I was living.
Interestingly enough, after leaving that environment, both of those symptoms eventually completely resolved, which became another powerful reminder for me of the connection between our overall well-being, our environment, and the way we move through life.
After stepping away from my corporate career to care for my dad, I had to navigate a significant amount of financial uncertainty while trying to rebuild my life and discover what came next.
I worked various part-time jobs to support myself while simultaneously developing my practice, often questioning whether I was on the right path and wondering when things would finally begin to come together.
There were periods of immense financial pressure, grief, self-doubt, and uncertainty about the future, but those experiences ultimately strengthened my belief in the purpose behind my work.
I learned that building something meaningful doesn’t always happen on a straight or predictable timeline. Sometimes, you have to continue moving forward even when you can’t yet see where the path is leading—and trust that the pieces will eventually come together.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Through Transmuting Pain Into Purpose, I offer Reiki sessions and sound healing sessions privately and also hold group sound bath experiences. My work focuses on creating intentional spaces where people can slow down, relax, reconnect with themselves, and release some of the stress and emotional heaviness they may be carrying.
I have held sound bath events, and even a unique poolside sound healing experience. I also collaborate with others in the healing space such as women’s circles and other wellness events, often closing those gatherings with a sound healing experience. I love creating different types of experiences that bring people together while allowing them to connect with themselves on a deeper level.
What sets my work apart is the personal meaning behind it. Transmuting Pain Into Purpose isn’t just the name of my business—it reflects my own journey and my belief that difficult experiences can become catalysts for growth, transformation, and purpose. I bring that perspective into every session and carry that intention in my heart on a daily basis.
What I’m most proud of is that I didn’t let the pain I experienced consume me. I went through some of the hardest chapters of my life, and there were moments when I didn’t know what my future was going to look like. But instead of allowing those experiences to define me, I chose to keep moving forward and find meaning in them. I took the grief, the uncertainty, the burnout, and the loss I experienced and used them as a catalyst to grow, heal, and create something meaningful. Building this work has been a reminder that moving forward doesn’t mean forgetting what you’ve been through—it means allowing yourself to carry it differently and choosing to continue becoming who you’re meant to be.
Ultimately, I want people to leave my sessions and events feeling more grounded, relaxed, connected, and hopeful than when they arrived. I want my work to remind people that healing can take many forms and that they don’t have to navigate life’s difficult seasons alone.
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
As an empath and a deep feeler, my advice to others is to be willing to put yourself out there and genuinely connect with people, even when it feels uncomfortable or you don’t know exactly where the relationship will lead. Some of the most meaningful opportunities I’ve had have come from simply reaching out, attending events, introducing myself, and being open to collaboration.
I’ve found that networking works best when it doesn’t feel transactional. Rather than approaching someone thinking about what they can do for me, I try to focus on building a genuine relationship and finding ways that we can support each other. Collaborating with other wellness practitioners, attending local events, and creating experiences together has been especially valuable for me.
When it comes to finding a mentor, I think it’s important to look for someone who is not only successful in the area you’re interested in, but who genuinely inspires you as a person and you connect with their heart. Energy doesn’t need an introduction—it speaks before the mouth ever has the chance to. I’ve also learned that mentorship doesn’t always have to be a formal relationship. Sometimes it can come from having conversations with people who have more experience than you, learning from their journey, and allowing those relationships to develop naturally.
Most importantly, don’t be afraid to reach out. You never know who might be willing to share their knowledge, make an introduction, collaborate with you, or simply encourage you along the way. I’ve learned that putting yourself out there and being open to connection can create opportunities you never could have planned for.
