Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Pearce.
Jennifer, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
A little over 5 years ago my ex husband left for another woman and we got a divorce. In the short term I was shattered, having excruciating pain find me. Losing my marriage and family was devastating for me. It was all I ever wanted. It was also happening amid the pandemic which was already wildly challenging. I am a teacher and learning to teach during that time had its own challenges amid my world falling apart. However after awhile I began to discover gifts. Being able to see my marriage more clearly and realizing that the end of it was a blessing in disguise. I began a blog, being a writer at heart all of my life, but having no outlet for it. The blog was based on my divorce and navigating the infidelity I had faced. The blog began to resonate and choosing to put my story out there publicly changed everything. I knew the story would change my life but wasn’t sure how. Then I saw an ad for coaching and I knew. I went back to school to become a life coach to help other women find the gifts I had beyond my divorce. I started my own business and began running women’s series for women, and started coaching women individually. All of it igniting a passion within me to have women learn to put themselves at the top of the list of people they love in a day. In the aftermath of my divorce I had found fitness, health, and vitality and I wanted to share that! My life took on this magical hue in the aftermath, and I was able to find true joy and peace and happiness on the other side and I was intoxicated by it all. I ended up having my story published in a compilation book that was about turning trauma into triumph and that was exciting and helped me get a taste of being published, a lifelong dream of mine. Eventually my story to this point has led me to the idea of helping young girls empower themselves early in life, before they have a chance to give that power away. I have evolved my business, and I now run workshops for girls ages 8-12. Believing so fully that starting young will change the game. We work on gratitude, being your own best friend, being brave, trusting your own intuition, finding internal happiness, and empowerment themes. My business is called “I Got YOU GIRL Empowerment” coaching. And my motto is “If Nobody told you today, I Got YOU GIRL!” And as this is beginning it is really taking hold and my vision is for a movement! Creating strong, confident, and resilient girls that have deep belief in what they are capable of! And my passion for it has only grown. Having my own daughter, who is 10 be able to join me at my workshops, has only been icing on the cake!
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has not been smooth at all. I had to navigate my own deep heartache and pain while watching my children shattered and attend to their healing. It was the most challenging time of my life. I did years of therapy, and spent countless hours and energy working with my children, and mending their broken hearts and my own. We spent a lot of time hiking and in nature to do just that. Adjusting to being a single mom has been challenging, financially, physically, mentally, and emotionally. I have had to learn how to be the man of the house alongside being the mom in the day to day. It was also challenging to start a business from nothing, making it up as I went along, and I have had to remain deeply committed to my purpose and having faith in what I cannot see. Being so committed to my mission above all else. Knowing that if I am it will take flight, and it took a few years to gain traction and it really is now! It is exciting. But none of it has been easy. The relationship I have with their dad is very challenged, and it has made the rest that much more challenging. I am open to that getting better always and hoping he will join me in that space one day. However being able to turn my pain into purpose has been the most humbling gift, and one that is not lost on me.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a public school teacher and have been for 24 years. I have taught 4th grade most of my career, but will be teaching 5th starting next year. I can honestly say that I still love it after all of this time! In fact it is what connects me so fully to my coaching. They are very similar and that light bulb moment is very much linked to the shift that my clients make when they tap into their own wisdom, and realize the change that is for them. Using both my teaching background and coaching background to create and write these workshops has been wildly fulfilling. I am most proud of remaining committed to my business. It was slow growing initially. I kept at it, and kept showing up consistently in all areas of my life, and it has paid off. Lots of trial and error. I think what sets me apart is my heart for people, and my authenticity. People really FEEL me when I am around them, and know that I am genuinely committed to their growth and success. I am a genuine human through and through and I was gifted with the ability to convey that to the people I work with, and even more so in this chapter. My passion for the human condition and all the challenges that that holds is deep and wide.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
There has been no luck, just infinite blessings. I am a blessed human. My journey has been divinely placed, of that I have no doubt. My faith has been the cornerstone and my sense of my spiritual life, which is also deep and wide. I was given all of the tools I have needed to create this life and so many blessings. It has been humbling to watch unfold. I was “called” to walk in this purpose, I have no doubt about that. It brings tears to my eyes when I think on it. Having walked through such excruciating pain and getting to LIVE THIS life on the other side. I am grateful every single day for that!
