Today we’d like to introduce you to George Berdomas.
Hi George, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I started my real estate career in April 2018 while working full-time. I’ve always had an interest in real estate and saw it as an opportunity to build something of my own while helping people through one of the biggest decisions of their lives.
Over the years, I’ve worked with buyers, sellers, and investors throughout Pennsylvania and New Jersey. As my experience grew, I also started investing in real estate myself, purchasing properties, renovating them, and managing rentals.
Real estate has continued to grow from something I started on the side into a major part of my life. I enjoy working with people, putting deals together, solving problems, and continuing to grow both as a realtor and an investor.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Absolutely not. One of the biggest struggles was building my business from the ground up while also working a full-time job. Real estate can be unpredictable—there are slow periods, deals fall apart, and sometimes you put a lot of time into something that doesn’t work out. Learning how to handle different clients, negotiations, and unexpected problems was also a challenge early on. Over time, those experiences helped me become more confident, patient, and better at handling whatever comes up in a transaction.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
One of my biggest challenges has been balancing two demanding careers—working full-time as an Executive Assistant with the NJDEP while also building my career as a Realtor. Both jobs require a lot of time, organization, and being available when people need you.
There have definitely been long days, late nights, weekends, and times when it was difficult to balance everything. Real estate can also be unpredictable, with deals falling apart or problems coming up at the last minute. But balancing both careers has taught me how to manage my time, stay organized, and handle pressure. I’ve been fortunate to continue growing in both careers without having to give up one for the other.
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
My advice is to put yourself out there and build relationships wherever you can. A lot of networking happens naturally just by talking to people, staying in touch, and being willing to learn from others.
What has worked best for me is surrounding myself with people who have more experience and aren’t afraid to share their knowledge. I’ve learned a lot from coworkers, other Realtors, investors, lenders, contractors, and people I’ve met throughout both of my careers. I also try to be someone people can rely on. Building a good reputation and treating people well has led to a lot of relationships and opportunities over the years.
