Today we’d like to introduce you to ELOHIM SMITH.
Hi ELOHIM , it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I like to call myself exceptional—not because I’m better than anyone else, but because I refuse to quit. Harriet Tubman once said, “If you’re tired, keep going. If you’re scared, keep going. If you’re hungry, keep going. If you want a taste of freedom, keep going.” That’s become my mindset.
I’m one of the few women working as an HVACR mechanic, and I also teach the trade. When I’m not in the classroom or working in the field, you’ll find me coaching boxing, training as a boxer myself, or behind the DJ booth bringing people together through music.
Life has thrown plenty of twists, turns, and challenges my way, but every title I carry came from one decision: to keep going.
Now I’m getting ready for my next challenge—stepping into the ring on November 7 at the 2300 Arena. The journey continues.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Working in a male dominated industry. As far as being a mechanic. DJs no challenges and boxing plenty of challenges mainly weight management
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
HVACR MECHANIC, HVACR TEACHER, BOXER, DJ AND BOXING COACH. I’m proud that I’ve been able to say what I want then do it. I enjoy what I do
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
I was a happy kid who enjoyed service. I played the drums, I played the piano, I would sing and spend a lot of time with family. I also enjoyed helping people
