Today we’d like to introduce you to Bernadette Emerson Dane Painter.
Hi Bernadette Emerson , thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
A year ago, I started as a vendor at The Lost and Found selling my art and prints. Unfortunately, in the middle of spring of this year the owners needed to close the business come June. An email was sent out to notify all vendors that the doors would close but included that if anyone was interested in taking over the business to contact them. Since Dane and I are both very creative people, We thought this was a great opportunity for us as artist.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
For the most part it’s been a fun ride! But of course we’ve had some challenges. Everybody has them, but with Dane and I being so creative any problem that arises we creatively have solutions for it right away. Being this is the 1st time we are running our own business we enjoy tackling any challenges that come up.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Bernadette Emerson-
Is a life long, self taught artist. She’s Is a graphite and ink artist. She has explored many types of mediums including photography. She currently works as a tattoo artist, has gallery experience and is shelf published.
Dane Painter-
Also a lifelong artist, dappling in photography, music and graphic design. His creative mindset and passion to advocate for other artists is why the shop is a perfect fit for him.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
Most people assume Dane and I met purely as business partners, but the plot twist is that we’re actually a couple! Art was the very first thing we bonded over, and that shared creative spark eventually grew into both a relationship and a physical storefront. Running a shop together just means we get to live and breathe our favorite shared passion every day.
