Daily Inspiration: Meet Ana Andraos

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ana Andraos.

Hi Ana, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey as a fitness coach started with how I grew up. My family home is surrounded by woods which kept us active as that was our main entertainment as kids. We would sprint through the trails and climb trees. My dad grew up in Lebanon and my family adopted his family’s Mediterranean diet, which led to a love for healthy fresh foods full of color and nutrition. My teta, who lived with our family for awhile, would pick dandelions from the yard to make us salads. Dandelions are so good for you, who knew! My mom is also big on holistic health and taught us how to heal naturally. She would cook with fresh herbs from the garden and lived by you are what you eat. Her secrete ingredient to every dish is love. I also inherited my mom’s artist skills, which gives me an eye for the human body as it’s the most technical and beautiful form of art. That gives me the creative skills and technical mindset when it comes to training. All these life experiences have led me to my love for health and fitness. When I’m at my healthiest, I’m at my peak happiness. Being an athlete has become my super power. I started my fitness journey as a yogi. My mom took me to my first yoga class when I was 9 years old. Then I got into running and barre. Soon enough I started bodybuilding, which led to powerlifting and maxing out deadlifts at 415 pounds. I’ve trained in martial arts, kettlebells, functional strength and conditioning, and recently started learning Olympic Weightlifting. Let’s just say I love it all and have a hard time choosing one thing! After realizing this is a true passion, I started studying for different certifications and taking on jobs with mentorships to help me become a well rounded personal trainer. I love sharing my passion with my clients and helping them become the best versions of themselves!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
When I was 20 years old, I lost my brother. He died in a motorcycle accident at age 22. It was hard to find life in the first few years of grief. My brother was health obsessed and taught me a lot. Taught me to throw a football with my non dominate hand to strengthen my weak side. Brought my favorite yogi in my life who I still live by, Rodney Yee. Open my mind to mediation. Would challenge me on different physical activities that I thought I was too small or weak to do. He’d walk me through the hard challenges and helped show me that I can do anything I put my mind to. His famous line to me was “mind over matter”. I say that to myself every time I try something challenging and preach it to all my clients. The grief of him is what really brought my strength as an athlete to levels I thought I would never imagine possible. Every time I push through a heavy lift or challenge, I rage with energy deep inside me. I made a promise to myself to finish my brothers journey on this planet and that is becoming as much of a super human as I can though fitness.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
My career started as a server running around tables at my parent’s restaurant. That build me my social skills, multitasking, handling pressure well, and entrepreneurship. I’ve done many different things like taking on painting commissions for murals and portraits, working with kids, administrative roles, chiropractic assistant, gym management, group class instructor, and personal trainer. Today, I have my own personal training business where I take virtual clients and have a in-home studio for private in person clients. I’m also teaching yoga, barre, and kettlebell classes at a few different studios. And I keep a part time job training at a semi-private gym and an administrative gym for consultant pay as my personal business flows in and out. Let’s say I like to keep busy! I’m most proud of my personal business. Nothing more rewarding than starting something on your own and having full creative power to do as you please!

What was your favorite childhood memory?
My favorite childhood memory is one that I actually don’t remember but a story my mom tells me of when I was a toddler. My mom dealt with lymes disease and has struggled with her knees. We were on a walk together and my mom told me her knee is hurting and she needs to stop and take a break. I go to my mom “mommy let me make them feel better!” I then lay my hands on my mom’s knee and she said she felt a ton of heat radiating off my hands and onto her. I was always extremely intuitive growing up and a natural healer. I bring that same energy into my sessions when working with my clients!
