Conversations with Maryann Petri

Today we’d like to introduce you to Maryann Petri.

Maryann, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Once a Registered Nurse with a happy family, I soon found myself fending off back to back accusations of Child Abuse while losing my children to a biased Family Court system which eventually led to Parental Alienation. I became a Pro Se Litigant appealing to Superior Court with a victory that proved life saving.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?

While struggling under the oppression of the family court system and guiding others through similar adversity, Maryann Petri found that times of desperation can lead to joyfulness. During these moments, all she knew was to stay busy. Dealing with anxiety and depression, Maryann found herself confronting fear and anxiousness through writing poetry and riding horses. Maryann’s first book, Dismantling Family Court Corruption: Why Taking The Kids Was Not Enough, contains many of the poems she wrote while going through this adversity. They have proven to be so valuable to those reading her book for wisdom and guidance, that she was asked to publish a collection of her poetry, which is Cry Out For Justice: Poems of Truth. In order to help others further, Maryann also started a podcast titled SLAM THE GAVEL where guests share their experiences, wisdom and expertise in navigating the corruption of our court systems. It is available on most podcast platforms including Apple, Spotify, and iHeart.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m most proud of my published books with Triumph Press. I painted the picture of Lady Justice that is on the cover of the first book, Dismantling Family Court Corruption, Why Taking The Kids Was Not Enough. It became the best seller within a year and a half. I’m very proud of my book of poems, Cry Out For Justice: Poems of Truth. I also helped with the cover work on Raised By These Wolves Volumes I and II. Volume III will be coming out end of January. I enjoy practicing my guitar, painting in oils and watercolors. I also play guitar, piano, flute and French Horn.

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
Slam The Gavel podcast matters the most to me as parents get to tell their stories and show their evidence that they were never able to in a court of law. Justice matters as this involves families that are, and have been torn apart in the Family Court arena on a daily basis.
I’m also very proud of the trailer that was filmed by Emmy award-winning Director, Adam Worth, called The Mailbox 4/2024. A pitch deck has been written as well as a screenplay. I am searching for a Producer at this time.
