Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Swanner.
Jennifer, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
When my children were young, I dreamt of a safe and creative space for them to play and grow in their community. This was a dream I held onto for many years. When my children became adults, I finally had the time and resources to venture out and make this dream a reality for other families. As times have changed from raising my own children, I have observed the challenges of too much screen time with young children today and the challenges the parents face as technology is all to convenient. I set out to create a fun, clean and imaginative screen free play space for my community.
Now 7 years later, we have grown tremendously and I look forward to expanding into more locations in the near future.
I’m so grateful to my community for meeting me where I’m at in each stage of the growth of this business. As a military brat (someone who has moved many times during childhood due to military) I did not have a solid community experience as a child and I’m so passionate about bringing community to other families, providing support and something that is needed and wanted. Community is everything to me.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I opened my doors in 2019. Not only facing many challenges as a new business, new business owner but then the pandemic presented many setbacks in itself. I have certainly earned my degree in the subject of hard knocks. While indoor play is very seasonal, it’s always a challenge to be creative at budgeting during peak season as to plan well for the valley season.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My background is in marketing and creative. After spending 20 years in the marketing field and being a parent of 3, this has helped me tremendously in creating the space I have as well branding and awareness of who we are and what we do!
Because of my passion for community, this helps me with local business partnership and sponsorship to support our mission.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
Entrepreneurship as all about balancing what you invest of your time and resources and your risk and reward. It’s a scary thing to invest all of your resources and giving the best of yourself into something that is unknown. Finding the right tribe and having enough confidence I think is the secret sauce to success!
