Today we’d like to introduce you to Danielle Brumm.
Hi Danielle, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I became involved with Revival Athletics in the spring of 2023 after Spooky Nook abruptly ended the program. As a previously established non-profit Revival Athletics worked to find a new location that led us to working with Red Rose Arena who were incredibly kind and helpful. After a continued search we were able to find our current location at 341 E. Liberty Street Lancaster and officially opened our doors on December 1, 2023. We are a USA Gymnastics Sanctioned Trampoline and Tumbling Gym that offer rec classes, non-competitive team, a competitive team and a HUGS Program (which works with athletes of all different abilities). We are an athlete focused program that has coaches with teaching skills ranging from preschool age through competitive elite. We’re also extremely proud of all of our athlete’s accomplishments from learning basic jumps through our National Champions and our Elite Athlete. We believe TnT has the ability to teach not only athletic skills but also skills for building a community and life. Our board consists of 3 members – myself – Coach Kenzie who focusses on the time in the gym as well as many other things and Coach Kayla who runs our HUGS Program as well as being the PA State HUGS Chairperson.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road has definitely had it’s ups and downs. I started as a parent of an athlete when the program was with Spooky Nook Lanco and after returning from my son winning his first national competition at the Elite Challenge in Irving, TX we were informed that the program was being cancelled. Our TnT Team had about 6 athletes that had qualified to compete in another upcoming National Competition being held in Tulsa, OK that summer. We had to scramble to find another TnT Gym that would allow us to compete under their name as well as finding a place to practice all while moving equipment from Spooky Nook Lanco. It was a very difficult time and a rough way to start. It was really through enormous parent support and flexibility that we were able to make it work. I’m proud to say our athletes went to that Nationals and brought home a number of medals and awards. It was after that event that we were able to start really focusing on Revival Athletics and how to create a new foundation. We’re also proud to say that almost all of the TnT families that were with us at the Spooky Nook followed us and helped us start Revival Athletics. We have truly been built from the ground up and while some days our learning curve has been steep, we are so glad to have the families and community around us. After a beginning like that one all of our other challenges have been minor in comparison.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I hold a Bachelor of Social Work Degree and a Masters of Outdoor Therapeutic Recreation. I lived in IL for about 25 years after finishing college in IN were I worked for about 20 years with team building courses and experiential education on a part time basis. I’ve also worked for United Airlines with their Foundation as well as in their Media Department, Big Brothers Big Sisters creating experiential education programs and eventually ended up working for Fire House Gym as a director of the competitive gymnastics program in Illinois. After moving to PA in 2019 I began working for U-Gro until January of 2025 when I became full time with Revival Athletics. With such a variety of work experience I’ve always strived to incorporate my team building, group dynamic and interpersonal skills into each new adventure.
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The biggest lesson I’ve learned is the importance of patience. Getting to know people as individuals can make a huge difference and when it comes to leading you have to accept you can’t please everyone all the time so you need to do the best you can and believe in whatever decision you make.
