Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrew Ward.
Hi Andrew, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Since I was a teenager, I have always been interested in finding interesting things at local flea markets and garage sales. I was thrift shopping way before it was fashionable to do so. I am an artist at a root level and Ultimately I have an eye for unique objects and aesthetics. I have a focus of interest on vintage lifestyle and the connection between objects and memories and people. I always dreamed of having my own shop where I could curate my collection of home and wardrobe items. Then I got my chance to open a small vintage boutique about two years ago here in Allentown Pa where I was born.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The biggest challenge is doing everything myself. I don’t have a business background, so it is always a learning process in that regard. I remind myself to be patient and take it a step at a time. Good things take time. But overall, I have been very pleased with the start of my business.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a curator of objects and spaces. I take great pride in designing spaces and my shop to create an exceptional experience for my guests (customers). Things are strategically placed and every detail is considered, from the music to the smell, to the overall visual experience. I create lifestyle vignettes and theme displays that capture attention and the interest of my guests and the public.
Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
My business vision and my ideas are never ending. I also try to hold a variety of events at my shop in order to bring people in and connect with the local community. I invite local musicians to play and offer others a space to showcase their passions.
