Community Highlights: Meet Sherri Leon of Noshes BY Sherri

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sherri Leon.

Hi sherri, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Noshes By Sherri really started from my love of baking and the joy I got from sharing the Jewish baked goods I grew up with. It was a Facebook post looking for the best Jewish Apple cake out there our friends tagged us we shared a photo and orders rolled in. We decided we had something special and turned it into a business making over 125,000 cakes. Currently we are in 15 supermarkets, farmers market and an active website shipping throughout the country,
At the same time, I was already juggling a very full time professional life-managing a pharmacy and a women’s boutique. Building Noshes while managing everything else in our lives has truly been a team effort. While I am the founder of Noshes, my husband has been an enormous part of bringing that vision to life.As our head baker,he is truly at the heart of what we do.
Little by little, Noshes grew- from sharing our baked goods locally at farmers markets, retail locations and a growing community of customers who have come to know us for our famous Jewish apple cakes, rugulah, assorted mandel bread and more and proud to continue to expand our gluten free line of noshes.
Looking back, i am incredibly proud of how far we have come. Noshes began with my love of baking and an idea, but it has grown through a lot of hard work, perseverance, and support of my husband into something we are both proud of.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Of course the journey has not been easy. One of our biggest challenges has simply been keeping up as Noshes has grown. There were times when the orders were coming in faster then we ever anticipated, and we had to figure out how to increase production while still maintaining the quality and personal touch that made our Noshes special in the first place.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Noshes BY Sherri is all about taking the traditional Jewish baked goods we grew up with and giving them a fresh, modern personalty. We are best known for our Jewish Apple cakes, our signature Mandel Bread, poppyseed cookies, rugulah and our customer favorite-Chinese marble cookies- a nostalgic cookie that we put a spin on.
What sets us apart is that everything is made in small batches with the quality and homemade feel that were important to us from day 1. We love taking familiar and nostalgic and making it fun and relevant to a new generation.
What I am most proud of is that NOshes has developed its own identity. People know the name, seek out our products and come back for their favorites and that to me is incredibly rewarding.

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
I would say passion, perseverance and adaptability. I truly love what we have created and that passion keeps me motivated and always thinking of what we can do next.
