Community Highlights: Meet Luisa Quigley of Fat Boys Deli

Today we’d like to introduce you to Luisa Quigley.

Hi Luisa, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
“Good morning, and thank you so much for having us. I’m Luisa, the proud owner of Fat Boys Deli in Bridgeport. When people ask what I do, I always tell them that while I run the business side of things, my real job is keeping our family united and feeding our community the way I feed my own kids and grandkids. We are a 100% minority, women-owned business, but truly, we are a family heart and soul.
Everything we do is built on love and tradition. My husband, Bill, brings over 40 years of master butchery and food industry experience to the table—he is our guiding light when it comes to making sure everything we serve is the absolute best quality. And having our son, Nick, working right alongside us every single day brings me so much joy. He represents the next generation, putting his own hard work and passion into the kitchen.
To me, food is how we show people we care about them. That’s why we partner with local bakeries and suppliers right here in our backyard, and why we put so much love into our house-cooked meats. We aren’t just building a business to scale it up; we are building a legacy for our children and a welcoming kitchen for all of Montgomery County. Thank you for letting us share our family’s heart with you today.”

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Fat Boys has been blessed, the community we serve Bridgeport PA has the best customers we could ask for. Yes, we certainly have made mistakes along the way but we think that is where we learn and allows us to grow both personally and professionally. Our biggest struggle has been our tremendous success, sometimes a tiny kitchen can easily get overwhelmed, especially when we do whatever we can to accomodate special needs.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
“When you walk into Fat Boys Deli, you are walking right into our family kitchen. I am the owner of the business, and while I handle the strategy and our growth, my heart is entirely focused on keeping our family united through food. To me, feeding people is the ultimate act of love, and we treat every single customer like they are sitting at our own Sunday dinner table.
We are famous for doing things the old-fashioned way. We specialize in our own scratch-made, slow-roasted meats, like our Fat Boy’s Steakhouse Roast Beef and Italian Pork. We also love to give people a unique treat, so along with regional classics like the classic Norristown Zep, we serve high-end proteins you don’t normally see at a neighborhood corner shop—everything from artisan wagyu burgers to elk and bison cheesesteaks.
What truly sets us apart is how we source our food. We don’t just open boxes; we select everything with intention. We rely heavily on my husband Bill —he has over 40 years of master butchery experience and decades in foodservice distribution, so he guides us to ensure we are getting the absolute highest quality cuts. From there, we keep it close to home by partnering with incredible local suppliers like a local family owned bakery for our fresh rolls and Dietz and Watson for our premium lunchmeats.
But what I am most proud of brand-wise is the multigenerational team we’ve built. Having our son, Nick, working right alongside me every day is a mother’s dream come true. He is the heartbeat of our kitchen and the face of the next generation. Our supporting team is #1 and we certainly feel they are our Fat Boy family!

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
We are a premium sandwich shop and folks will always appreciate a great sandwich at a fair price. We are currently considering additional locations but we are in no hurry, slow and steady wins the race. We are concentrating on building a strong foundation.
