Community Highlights: Meet Emily Funte of Colläge coffee co

Today we’d like to introduce you to Emily Funte.

Hi Emily, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
my husband and I had a love for excellent coffee and a desire to help and know our neighbors. In 2017 we stared our roasting business and that quickly led to us opening our shop, as it allowed us to facilitate relationships through the medium of great coffee.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
there are always joys and struggles. We have had to learn we can always expect change. Marketing initiatives that work one season may not hit the same the next. But a commitment to innovation has made us flexible enough that we have been able to adapt to our market. 2020 shutdown was of course scary and difficult, but we came out of that much stronger because we recognized we had no idea what we were doing and were willing to pivot as much as needed

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
we are a specialty coffee shop located in small town Grove City Pennsylvania. We exist to create and facilitate relationships through coffee, for the good of our community and the world. We work to source ethical, quality green coffee, cultivating relationships with farmers whenever possible.

We have built a successful specialty coffee shop in a small town of 8000 residents. That is something we are very proud of. We don’t have tens of thousands of people the pull our market from,. We committed to serving an excellent product with kind, relationship centered service- and our community has responded to that with great support and loyalty.

What matters most to you?
Caring for people is one of our core values. We work to make our space a healthy environment first for our employees. We want them to be healthier, happier people for their time with us.
And from that flows a commitment to loving our neighbors aka our customers. They are our friends and we treat them as such. An excellent cup of coffee is a service we are proud to offer.
