Today we’d like to introduce you to Max Lorei.
Hi Max, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was living in Los Angeles, aspiring for Hollywood. I moved back to Erie PA, worked for a portrait photographer in Erie. I learned a ton from him and his business. Realizing I had a huge passion and excitement for photography I moved to Pittsburgh in 2017. I had a studio in Southside for a little bit and now my studio is in east liberty. I still get the oppurtunity to work and shoot in Los Angeles multiple times a year. I have to say though I have fallen in love with the beauty of the outdoors in Pennsylvania. Pittsburgh has some many amazing neighborhoods, vibes and moods. I also have enjoyed the artistic community in Pittsburgh I feel like there are al ot of talented artists in Pittsburgh.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I’ve always loved creating art as a photographer. I think the challenge that I had to step into is, becoming a business owner. You hit a certain point with photography, where you are either going to be a hobbyist or you are going to pay your bills and buy a car with this venture haha. But I think part of the beauty of being a business owner is you have control of your schedule to a good amount.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am primarily known for taking beautiful, ethereal and feminine portraits of women in Pittsburgh, PA. I am most proud of having a unique style. I am super inspired by film, paintings, and other photographers. I’d say what sets me apart is a dedication to aesthetic and giving any woman or man in front of my camera the opportunity to see themselves in a beautiful and cinematic way. Also I think an underrated thing I bring to the table, is I really am a total goof ball when I’m shooting, I love puns and dad jokes and I think this real helps my clients relax and not take themselves too seriously.
What does success mean to you?
Success is having the life you have imagined. The big thing you pictured or just truly the life you imagined and not the life someone else imagined for you.
