Check Out Kim Pomasan’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kim Pomasan.

Kim, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My name is Kim Pomasan and I am the business owner of La Chic Boutique by Kim.
As soon as I graduated from high school I immediately went to be a cosmetologist and have been a hairdresser since I was 18 years old. I have had my own salons over the years and even had a boutique area in them throughout that time. About 20 years ago I moved to Scranton and was still commuting to and from New Jersey every day. However, within the past few years that has slightly changed. I’m still a barber in New Jersey and have my own little shop. I still commute for a couple days to go do haircuts in the beginning of the week.

Fashion and clothing have always been a part of my life. I have always had a strong passion and love for the both. When I met Kim Nardelli and found La Chic Boutique by Kim I found another love. Back in 2023 Matt and I were walking around during the ice festival and he asked if I wanted to go the the boutique and initially I said no, because due to a recent shopping trip I didn’t need anything new at the moment. Ultimately, we found ourselves in La Chic and I was speaking to Kim Nardelli, the owner at the time, and wishing her luck on selling the business. A mutual friend from church mentioned to me that Kim was selling because she thought I would be interested. At first, I wasn’t. After a delicious dinner of chicken francaise from Abbiocco my mind changed.

Since then I have never looked back. The staff and clients have all become extended family. It has been such a joy owning this business. I’m a hairdresser by trade but have always had a passion for fashion.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Having a boutique in my salons was an addition to a vocation but having the boutique alone without “free labor “of my own two hands cutting hair was a financial learning curve. Having to learn my way around the computer and social media has been a huge challenge as well.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I have been a business owner and curator of making people beautiful for all of my adult life. I am proud of my very long standing relationships with not only clients but coworkers and employees as well. I try to involve myself and my business in many aspects of community outreach. I try to live my life by being kind and loving God.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
I individually choose all of our unique and beautiful merchandise. I have always maintained consistency within my work.. I always do my best to make every customer feel welcome, comfortable, and joyful. I feel that quality, consistency, and creativity have been a large part of my business.
