Today we’d like to introduce you to Christine Piselli.
Christine, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My journey into the fitness industry began after giving birth to my first son.
I had gained 55 pounds and for the first time in my life, I had to lose weight after his birth.
My sister invited me to a local gym for an Aerobics class.
I walked into the large studio, heard the music, saw the choreography and I was hooked for life!
The gym had a nursery. I used that nursery 6 days a week and participated in every class that was offered.
About a year into it, I started to earn certifications. I became certified in Group Fitness, Personal Trainer, Kickboxing, Nutrition, Pilates and Yoga.
I taught Aqua Aerobics, Seniors, high school, ice skaters, dancers, prenatal and high end step aerobics classes! If you were within 3 feet of me, I was training you!
I lost 55 lbs. and was featured on the cover and in a fitness magazine called Looking Good Now. A spinoff of SHAPE Magazine.
Fitness and wellness became my profession and passion.
Til this day, I am always a student and a teacher of fitness and wellness.
I love learning and teaching about mind/body fitness and wellness.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
So many ups and downs in the fitness/wellness industry!
Logistics, time, space, pricing and overhead costs, play into the fitness and wellness industry when engaging for a stream of income.
I learned from my mistakes and quickly regrouped and pushed on in my endeavors.
I picked mentors and learned from them as to what I felt would work best for me and my clients.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a freelance fitness and wellness coach.
I work from home as a nutrition coach and teach Pilates Mat and Bodyworks classes at local dance centers and gyms.
I am most proud of bringing The Pilates Mat classes into my area 25 years ago when Pilates was not mainstream.
I was taught by Ellen Barrett and went on to create my own traditional yet unique and affordable mind-body Pilates mat workout.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
Yes!
Professional fitness trainer and author, Ellen Barrett, initially taught me the traditional form of the Pilates Mat Workout. That changed the whole trajectory of my fitness path. I got hooked on Pilates Mat.
My fitness friend, turned coach, business mentor, author and international speaker, Jen Groover, was who influenced me and taught me how to own and operate my Pilates and fitness business. Jen trained me in Emotional Intelligence and The MORE METHOD. Life changing!
